I have heard that there is a number on some utility bills that they can use to switch your account without your consent(!) this was some years back, so not sure if that's still possible. Be careful it's not on your bill anyway
these days they already have this info before they knock on your door aswell as your name etc.
all they are after these days is your lovely signature0
