 I am sodding fuming!! Was at my parents' house this afternoon, when dad and I heard sharp insistent knocking at the front door.
Dad went to answer -to be faced with 2 NPower salesmen.
One of them started talking really quickly .
NPower bloke 1- "..blah blah blah switch to NPower blah blah blah,"
Dad - "no thanks, I am not interested"
Npower bloke,- "blah, blah blah save you money, switch to NPower blah blah"
Dad- "I said no thankyou I am not interested"
NPower bloke in a very rude tone-"well enjoy your price rise then"
Cheeky effing !!!!!!!! Dad was fisking fuming, told him to clear off, took the bloke's name and sent him packing.
I hate doorknocking sales people  I know they have money to make but such arrogance and persistence really pizzes me off:mad:

I would have been tempted to say " What part of bog off don't you understand" (but then I hate doorstep sales people)Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I agree, door to door sellers are just a nuisance.
I was once in a rrush to get ready, when there was a great battering on the door - presuming it was an urgent matter, such as a neighbour in trouble opened the door in a very compromised state! It was of course (!) EDF energy.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

They can be so rude. Alot of them are very young. I've heard them taking the pi$$ out of people that haven't signed up and that makes me even more determined never to listeb to them0

my mum just put a a no door to door saleman on door0

I've had all sorts for energy sales (nothing for two years though, crossing all fingers that this keeps up!) but the strangest was probably one extremely weird girl who claimed suddenly to not understand English (!?) when I said "No thanks, please remove me from your list" and then refused to leave for over five minutes (shut the door on her eventually). Not sure how she thought this would make me change my mind... "Oh, you don't speak English? I'll give you all my details now and talk to you about tariffs then". *head desk*
She just edged past the RSPCA bloke (on my list of most irritating callers) who tried to put his foot in the door and started talking about "...how I must really hate animals then..." for plain annoying after politely saying I wasn't interested. Maybe I should invest in a doorstep shark pit.0 -
How to get rid of them...
Say wait, yes I am interested , go and find you utility bill.
hand it to them and say right... how much would this cost under your lot.
Give me a price !
When they can not tell you, you say so why are you knocking on my door telling me it will be cheaper if you can not even tell me how much you would charge for what is on this bill, they make excuses and leave, quickly .
The simple truth is they can not, all they have to offer is talk and no facts.
I have the last bill photocopied with details personal blanked out behind the door waiting, its fun.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I have heard that there is a number on some utility bills that they can use to switch your account without your consent(!) this was some years back, so not sure if that's still possible. Be careful it's not on your bill anyway
I hate npower, I had some bloke turn up about 8pm at night in the winter, I was not too chuffed opening the door to find them given that I live on my own. The bloke went on and on, I told him I wouldn't switch on the doorstep, I wanted a leaflet with the tariffs on and time to mull it over. He didn't have either and rudely said he didn't understand why I had to think about saving money(!) and could he see my current utility bill. Er, no.0 -
My parents have a sign on the door saying they don't deal with door to door salesmen. It doesn't seem to stop the energy companies knocking on their door.
Recently they had an energy company knocking on their door asking whether they knew the energy company they currently used was owned by foreigners and whether they were happy giving their money to them. He then accused them of not supporting the British economy :mad:0 -
The thing is, Dad is 68, has all his marbles and a very sharp wit. He was tempted to punch the smarmy little shoite in the chops but didn't :rotfl:
Just imagine if a very elderly person answered the door to 2 very pushy salesmen who wouldn't leave after being told to-I imagine it would be quite intimidating.
The bonus was that as soon as Dad told him he was reporting him, they skedaddled out of the street and didn't bother anyone else:TNuts oh Hazelnuts:rotfl:0 -

The EnergySure code of practice officially includes rules that energy company sales staff shouldn't knock on any doors displaying a 'no cold callers' sign.
If they do you can contact both the company and the Energy Ombudsman.0
