Bloody NPower door to door

  • The EnergySure code of practice officially includes rules that energy company sales staff shouldn't knock on any doors displaying a 'no cold callers' sign.

If they do you can contact both the company and the Energy Ombudsman.

I'll let my parents know. This particular energy company seems to knock on their door every few weeks.

    Then they do need reporting.

Have to say they are quite good round these parts. Get the odd double glazing salesman who OH will just point at the sign and close the door on though :p

Oddly enough since it went on I no longer get Betterware, Kleenezee or the local free newspaper which went straight in the recycle bin anyway so its all good :D

I live in a no cold-calling area, it has the backing of the council and police, so that should keep the beggars away.

Looks like you'd have to "enjoy a price hike" with this shower anyway!
  • I'm amazed anyone dare knock on my parents door. My Dad's got a reputation of being a miserable git. Usually one encounter with him is enough to put anyone off knocking on his door again. He must be losing his touch in his old age :rotfl:

Ah, yes but they say to me that most people don't really mean that... I rarely answer door anyway. Which is weird when people who know me knock knowing I am home and there isn't any answer then they ring "where are you?" "At home" "I'm at your front door knocking and..." "ok be there in a sec"
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

i posted a similar thread a while ago when some one from the "energy saving trust" knocked on my door asking to see a bill so he could see how much i was paying and maybe able to reduce it... the muppet had a id card on a string round his neck that had Npower written on it. I asked to see some id and he refused, just continued to maintain he was from energy saving trust, i pointed out the id and he skulked off. Disgusting behaviour i think.

We dont often get cold callers knocking on the door but last week we had two. I really dont like them calling so the chances of me buying/signing up to anything are nil.
One was from Save the Children. He was polite and not pushy at all. He asked if I would like to set up a monthly DD in order to donate to them. I told him politely that I never agree to anything offered by cold callers however good the cause. He was fine with that.. no problem.
The second one was from "The Energy Trust" or something like that. He wasnt quite so pleasant, he was a bit cocky. He said that he had been sent to check whether people had the correct insulation or not!
I told him that I was perfectly capable of sorting out my own insulation without help from a stranger who had knocked on my door uninvited. :D
