Fair or not.
Does anyone have any experience of the PO, and if so do they truly operate a fair and consistent service to both agents, landlords and tenants....?

who are they? link please? i have never heard of them and what is the job they are purporting to do?
i think you mean tenant/landlord aribritation service about deposits? It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
If you don't know who they are, why not either use Google, or wait for someone who knows more than you to come along.who are they? link please? i have never heard of them and what is the job they are purporting to do?

It's a widely known scheme (NOTHING to do with deposit registration) though it is voluntary.
Sorry OP - I have no direct experience.
Oh - website here!0 -
gm i bow down to your superior knowledge on this matter...hence all the question marks and not everyone wants to google all the time..i hope you keep that in mind for next time...i also have no direct knowledge just like you..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?

Why try to suggest that what the OP is asking about is something else, when you have no 'direct knowledge', then....?0 -
I used them as a tenant. They were probably slightly less use than a chocolate teapot. We felt that we had a very genuine case against a letting agency, but the ombudsman, although agreeing with our problem, really seemed to have no powers to stop the agency just carrying on. My impression was that this is a voluntary service that an agancy has to pay to join, and the feeling I got was that the ombudsman was not keen to alienate their paying customers. It felt like lip-service and I wouldn't bother using them again.0

Geoffky - I have to say I agree with the others comments on this thread. Why get involved when you don't know what you are talking about. Suggest sticking to subjects you can add value you to, rather than just guess !!0

Welcome to MSE - I take it you ain't too familiar with how things operate here.. please stick around & learn.,.. I've learnt a huge amount here myself..
quite a few people, yes........
Does anyone have any experience of the PO,
- er, I've yet to meet any body in the UK that achieves that.. they're bound to get things wrong from time2time//and if so do they truly operate a fair and consistent service
err.. not both - both implies choice of 2, think you meant "all parties such as.."to both agents, landlords and tenants....?
Gissa clue, are you a student doing a survey, a PO employee fishing, someone just bored and thought you'd ask, a Landlord, agent or tenant with a grievance and what is the root issue, please..
Oh, and btw GM is a valued and able contributor here (been thanked over 7,500 times for their replies..) , I don't always agree with him/her, but if your response is to be of the
- style you may not necessarily get the optimum value in return for your time spent posting..Why get involved when you don't know what you are talking about. Suggest sticking to subjects you can add value you to, rather than just guess !!
Cheers!

The OP started other threads recently asking these questions:
"Does anyone know if estate agents are obliged to share information with prospective tenants prior to them taking out a tenancy, covering information such as previous disputes a landlord may have had ?
The reason we ask is that our company has had some concerns regarding our clients tenancy agreements when we have established that some landlords have indeed had previous disputes, which may in turn have meant we would have sort alternative accommodation for our staff."
"Can anyone recommend a solicitor that would be best placed to review a case against a lettings agent in the Manchester area?
We are intending to sue for lost earnings and various other breaches in codes of practice etc etc against T******y G****s.
Has anyone else had problems with this company as there have been various posts on the internet about them and we would recommend not using them."
I suspect this is why they are asking. However, it would probably be more useful if the OP could disclose exactly what their issues are so posters could offer specific advice.0 -
Hmmnn,, interesting sounds serious.. Odd, if serious you'd think that "the company" would have expertise or access to a solicitor specialising in this area... - I'm sure we don't have a case of some junior trainee trying to work out what should be done & not prepared to tell bosses "I don't know, help"...0

theartfullodger - and your business in getting involved in my question is.....?
Re my point about both tenants, landlords and agents. Far be it from me to teach you English, but as you seem to want to be picky, the 'both' refers to the landlord, tenant because you will note the "and" agents afterwards. Suggest if you can't add value please don't bother.
Bitterandtwisted - and again your point is ?
....if you can help answer the question then great, otherwise don't bother......simples !!
Some people......!!!!0
