The first thing i would do is to open a new bank account and start having any money she receives paid into the new account.

I would then call up Wonga and see what arrangement you can come to about maybe paying the debt off monthly. Hopefully they will let you come to some sort of arrangement as you cant pay back what you have not got.

Kelly, I can see where you are coming from but I doubt she can get anymore credit from anywhere.. I think what you said about ringing up wonga and saying that she has been made unemployed is the best.. But what if they can prove she never had a job in the first place?

I'm really worried about this now

So another lie? How stupid do you think Wonga and their ilk are? As someone else has posted earlier, the nicest thing you can do for your g/f is pay this off and hope she will pay you back - but as has been said before on this message board, you will have zero hope of her paying you back.
You are right to be worried, because unless she changes her mindset regarding debt and deception then you are in for a lot of grief during the length of your relationship.

BTW, Do people often just reply to posts like this with 'stop spending' 'sump her' and 'your in sh****t' ??

This is a debt help forum, that sort of comment doesn't seem at all helpful! Sorry if I've obviously rubbed people up the wrong way, I'm only trying to be as honest as I can about the problem.

    :(

And those type of responses, although you don't like them, are just as honest.
This type of debt is a result of spending more than you have, the 'sump' her one is a bit harsh and the one about being in big trouble, yes - she has committed fraud.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

Matt, i feel for you because you are going to be in a bad place..Because if you pay it off for her ,she will not learn the lesson she needs and if you do not pay it off for her she is going to be a grump for a long time....seriously mate think about her long term because if it was me i would run a mile from someone who is that irresponsible with money and commits fraud so easily.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
