Fibbed on Wonga Loan about Employment..

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine told me about this forum so I decided to sign up and checkit out..

It is with regret that I have a really bad first question;

My girlfriend took out a £400 payday loan from Wonga.com a few months ago, She has just told me she said she was employed on the application and earning etc.. She is currently on JSA!! She cant pay it back at all and is terrified that she will have to default on it and have to come clean that she lied. Obviously I told her shes an idiot but I've gotten over that now and just really want to help her and get this sorted.

She is currently with the CCCS and on a payment plan paying off 7 other creditors 1£ a month.. She is considering a DRO also.

Damn Wonga with their TV advertising!

Our question is what the hell should she do? Neither she or I want to see her get in trouble for fraud, Is that even likely?!

I know that her actions were irresponsible, But I'm trying to stick by her and help her out.. (And no.. We aint getting a joint account just yet ;P)

    How many different people is she not paying?

    They will just raid the bank account and leave her to sort it out with the bank.

    What the hell has that got to do with my question?
  • Ok, I know they will try and take the money from her bank account, She doesnt have any money in there or an overdraft so they wont be able to.. My question is about the legality of what she has done?

    To spell it out, Is it fraudulant?

    I thought the T&Cs of a DMP meant you couldn't take any more credit?

    To answer your question:

    She has commited fraud, ie obtained money by deception and could be prosecuted.

    What the hell is she doing fiddling money out of a company when she cannot afford to repay her existing creditors?
