Onspeed/Broadband Substitute merged thread

does onspeed tell you what your connection speed is? i have a cable broadband of 256k but am unable to see what speed its running at. sometimes it seems really slow but im unable to see how slow it is. onspeed would be usful if it can tell you the speed. is there other ways to check connection speed?

If you go to the ADSLGuide website http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp you can use their Speedtest to check your connection speed.
To Wolesely, I apologise but I didn't know you had unknowingly been merged into this thread.
To Edingburghlass, this is one of the probs posted by someone on another thread about merges. I didn't enter this thread through the normal means via "Internet Access", but by clicking on "Next Thread" at the bottom of another thread. Therefore I had no idea this was merged. Perhaps when a post has been moved into another thread something could be inserted in the post to show that.
Also, thanks for the tip about number of posts on a page. I have now settled at 25, 40 seemed too many...........lol.
I supose that sounds a bit like the Irishman who only wanted his pork pie cut into 2 pieces and not 4, because he didn't think he could manage 4.
