That's how I make my wedges! I toss them in sea salt and cracked pepper, and warm the oven tray first with a good wedge of butter - mmmmmmmmm! They're really good dunked in sour cream and chives.

Here's the recipe
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1669907&postcount=340
I should say it is adapted (slightly) from Jocasta Innes' 'Pauper's Cookbook'
It's also nice with smoked mackerel instead of bacon.
Hi there!
Excellent Recipe :T
Does anyone know if this could be done in a slow cooker?
I have heared that you are not supposed to put milk in a SC?
Anybody any idea's?

Hello All!
This thread is fantastic, i have made a note of sooo many good recipes! Anyway adding one of my own that my hubby and I often have, and is very quick to make!
(Havent really got a title for it)
Cook up a good handful of pasta, any type you have. (Enough to serve 2)
Once cooked drain, and add to 4 eggs beaten with some milk.
Open a can of Tuna (would work with salmon too) and mix that into the beaten egg/pasta mixture
Then heat some oil/butter/oil spray in a frying pan and add the "omlettey/pasta/tuna" mixture and cook until firm.
Optional Extra:: Once firm Grate some cheese on top and place under the grill for a couple of minutes it goes lovely and crispy on top!
We normally cut into wedges and have with a salad, it is absolutely delicious cold and doesnt take too long too make!
The recipe above easily makes 4 big wedges! ideal for a family or for lunches the next day!
Hope this makes sense

We had this last night and it was fab! Cheap to boot. (I think I will copy it into the recipe thread too which is something I discovered only recently! The wonders of OS, eh?
edited: I would if I could find it again! - sorry)
250ml milk (I made it up from milk powder)
1 pack of cream cheese
75g grated Cheddar
1/2 a tsp English mustard powder
A grating of nutmeg
A good pinch of white pepper
4 lasagne sheets
A good handful of frozen broccoli
6 lumps of frozen spinach
1 tsp oregano
Mix the milk, cheddar, mustard powder, nutmeg and pepper into the cream cheese. Pour 1/3 into a shallow oven dish. Top with 2 lasagne sheets. Pour another 1/3 of the sauce in. I scattered the broccoli over one half and placed spinach in the other (if hubby liked spinach, I would have just used more spinach and no broccoli.) Sprinkle with oregano. Place 2 lasagne sheets on top and finish with the remaining sauce. Bake for 50 minutes at 180C.
We had it with boiled carrots which went very well with it.Love and compassion to all x0 -

I put boiling water on the dried noodles in a bowl and leave to soften, then drain.
I add cashews (you could add peanuts or other nuts), sesame oil, Chinese 5 spice seasoning , soy sauce, honey (optional), chilli sauce (optional) and any vegetable you care to add (cooked in the microwave first)An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Vegetarian
Pasta with veggies and cheese. I make a white sauce with cream cheese (plain or with herbs) and white wine, garlic and pepper. Top with grated cheese and bake.
Soup - boiled veggies with veggie stock, leave to cool then whizz in blender. I serve it with HM bread.
Pancakes filled with veggies - same as the pasta dish
Baked spuds with whatever filling you like or what needs using up
Veggie cottage/shepherds pie made with lentils and veggies, similar to the soup, only not whizzed and excess water drained off. You could use potato slices instead of mashing them.
Toasties
Meat
BBQ chicken pieces, grilled or done in the oven if you can't BBQ. I BBQ or roast any veggies I want with it (I tend to avoid BBQing the peas and sweetcorn tho):D
Slow cook cheap cuts of meat, goes so tender and can be served with rice, in a pie, pancake, a wrap if you put Mexican seasoning in. Serve with veggies.
Veggies - I buy whatever is on deal that week.
Puddings
Fresh fruit
Summer pudding
Cheesecake made with cream cheese, egg, sugar and vanilla and baked. Use value digestives as a base. Quark is fairly cheap too and low fat.

Wholemeal tortilla pizza
I made these the other night. Just spooned leftover pasta sauce onto wholemeal tortilla, then mozzarella, sliced mushrooms, peppers, any leftover meat and sprinkled with cheddar and herbs.
Served with butternut squash 'chips' and salad.
Really lovely and healthy.
For quick and cheap puddings I've been chopping up fruit (tinned peaches last night), covering with yoghurt then crushing a meringue nest and sprinkling over0
