Whilst figuring out what to do next with my career, I've been applying for various jobs, within my field and outside of it.

OH suggested I sign up to some of the agencies. I signed up to Adecco on Saturday, got a call on Monday, and was in a job by Tuesday. It's temp to perm.

I was suprised too, having heard all sorts about agencies, but I would recommend trying this route as it worked for me!

I applied online, didn't even need to leave the house.

Popped down there after the job offer to drop in my ID etc.

i spent two days last week updating my ten year old cv, another two days registering with about ten job sites, uploading my cv and applying for anything i thought i might have a shot at

so far ive had three telephone interviews and three other definate progression possibilities, a real eye opener, confidence boost and a little overwhelming but there are jobs there if you put the effort in

all in retail and telesales, which is what im doing now although id rather take a step up and work in a factory again but there are no factory jobs around right now, sucks !

remember guys, your cv is you selling yourself to future employers, dont lie or elaborate but enhance your best points for the job your applying for

dont stick to one line of work, im not, im even thinking of retraining considering expenditure etc, its not easy for anyone right now but keep positive and if i can get to interview stage anyone can for goodness sake ;)

Sent my CV on numerous occasions to most agencies in Edinburgh, only two have registered me and had one interview in 4 months so it's not that easy at all. It is very dependent on where you are, what the jobs market in your area is like and your skills.

I uploaded my CV and applied for a lot of jobs in London at the weekend and have 3 interviews lined up for next week. Different market where my skills are needed is the difference I suppose. It has both surprised me and given me a confidence boost!

but the majority of CVs have lies in them.

and that includes people who've done really well and managed to get a job.

I'm leaving my job for another offer so without sounding arrogant, I have done well, but I can proudly and firmly say there is not one single lie in my CV. What's the point? Just build up great experience and you shouldn't have to lie.
