My 90k motorway munching Mondeo looked like a new car when I went to buy it. No dirt in the engine bay, no signs of wear anywhere and even the steering wheel and pedal rubbers looked nearly new.

Cars no longer wear as bad as they used to as they are made from much more durable materials. You don't find them like my Capris with the drivers seat bolster leather worn completely through after 70k.

I have to agree, it is very difficult to tell between a 90k and a 30k 3 year old car.it's actually 50/50 if the low mileage car hasn't been cleaned up.

High mileage?, No. I know of 1980's astra estates that did over 400k miles before the interior gave up
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

It's true yes that most engines will do 100's of 1000's miles if you take care of them and make sure you change the oil regularly etc.
I paid this Swansea Van Centre in wales £8000 for my 2006 van with 133k on the clock.
Vw engines are renowned for being able to do mega mileages hence that's why i chose one.
The LAST thing i expected was that within 15,000 miles of owning it that the engine would have bits of metal coming off and going into the turbo etc and thus !!!!!!ing the engine up?
When i rang the bloke Alex again on friday 16th, He basically said "what do you want me to do about it as your warranty has run out?

A few weeks ago this bloke was trying to sort me an extended warranty out in order to cover my hefty repair bill and save me money?

Then he wanted me to get the van up to him in bloody WALES so he could take a look at it then give me a small discount on the labour on the repair bill but i pay the rest.

Can you believe they even charge you to get into Wales as well lol (i want a refund).

Then he did the USUAL secondhand dealer tactic and said don't worry leave it in my hands and i'll get back to you.
Translated into English means i wont be getting back to you as i have had your 8 grand so you can go whistle!

What would you lot do in my situation?

Would you just roll over and swallow losing money or would you create merry hell until you got someone to listen and eventually got some results????
