Could you kindly tell all the ladies and gentlemen on here which roads you frequent so that we can avoid them when you're driving about with your STOP light flashing...

why would he need to do that? if you read other posts it says light comes on at same time temp gauge goes high it then goes off when temp comes down. So it is either genuine overheat (doubtful) or the coolant temp sensor is breaking down.

Indeed, that stop light on French cars is used for pretty trivial stuff, such as poor emissions and other silliness.

It's a terrible design IMO, as it will suffer from "cry wolf syndrome" one day, resulting in you ignoring the light and carrying on driving when the light comes on because your brake master cylinder just exploded.

Why, do you think it will make the car come hurtling towards you, totally out of control, and somehow remove any ability you have to apply your brakes or turn the steering wheel?

Just for peace of mind I took the car to the garage on Sat and they can't find anything wrong so have told me to continue driving as normal and only bring it back in if the light stays on permanently.

So Harveybobbles I don't think you need worry about me just yet.
