as above if all levels are good then it will be a electrical issue, normally it is accompanied by another light for example oil pressure light, over heating light.
my sisters 206cc does it sometimes turns out the boot lid is flexing over speed bumps causing the light to come on now and again.
try having someone sat in car with it running and then try rattling the doors, boot and bonnet to see if any of them cause it to come on.0 -
You could do with a code scanner to see if any faults are logged.0

OK another update.
All was fine last night going home and on the way into work this morning until the last mile when the STOP came on again.
This time I noticed it co-incided with the temp guage going through the roof. The temp guage then fell to normal and the STOP went off, then the temp guage went through the roof STOP came on. Temp guage fell back to normal and then STOP went off so its yo yo ing in tune with the temp guage level.:beer:0 -
Looks like your coolant sensor, reason i asked in my early post. Easy fix for a few quid if your comfortable doing it yourself.

Stop light came on my 206 once while I was braking at a traffic light and the engine cut out as I came to a stop. Started engine again and the light has never been on since. This was over a year ago and it has been serviced and MOT'd since.0

The car was bought a month ago from a mechanic who regularly serviced the car, I have all the documents. It was also MOTed by a garage I have used myself for many years and trust. I am aware an MOT is a snapshot in time.As an update, although he can't guarantee it, I have spoken to Peugeots servicing department and the guy said from what we've told him and checked he would only add to check the doors and boot are fully closed. As the car drives as usual and there are no other warning signs he himself would keep driving it and only bring it in If it comes on permanently.
One way of doing it. I'd take advantage of a Kwik fit free brake check to see what state the discs and pads are in though. If you leave the pads until they wear to metal, it'll needlessly cost you a set of discs as well.0 -
You'd be surprised at how many cars sold by mechanics are regularly serviced when in fact the truth is that their car is usually the last to get looked at.
What did I say about the MOT ?

So will asking Kwik Fit. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
It's apparently a common fault by the way,

Well I took the car into the garage on Saturday and they couldn't find anything wrong so unless anything changes i'm considering it a ' glitch' .:beer:0
