We have a Numatic Henry and I would highly recommend them. Simple, reliable, effective and easy to use.

Ha, ha doratheexplorer poster sounds like me I have already vac'd 4 times today downstairs, just been upstairs to discover my 5yr old's been creative with 5 thousand tiny pieces of paper (ok probably an exageration but looks like that many)!

The dog has'nt even been in the house today, he's not feeling very well so has been outside in his own house.

Tried to persuade DH to take the Vax back but he reckons Argos won't take it back now it's been used!

Numatic Henry is £71.99 today and tomorrow at Homebase (10% off).

Got one this morning as my Dyson has packed up again.

I had one of the first Dysons ever made.I bought it in the Ideal Home Exhibition years ago.Never again,it was great for about 3 months, then the hose broke, then the wire came away from the handle. Then the motor packed up. I went and bought a Sebo, and its still going strong.
I look at the new Dysons now,and think they are just over priced "childrens looking toys"All plastic.
How Mr Dyson can get a New Years honour, for sacking all his Welsh workers and getting his products made in malaysia i never know !

He probably decided to get them made in Malaysia due to incompetant Welsh staff producing faulty products....

For those of you that have Dysons, Dyson t offer a service for £55 in which a rep comes to your home and completely overhalls the machine. MIL had hers done about 6 weeks ago. She hoovers between 2-4 times a day (she has 3 long coated German Shepherds, that seem to moult continuously!)
    She swears by her Dyson!

Me on the other hand, I have a Henry.
He's Fab. They only thing i would say is go for the one with the extra attachments!
    Well worth every penny.

N20Y1D.Yipes i hope no Welsh people read what you said !
Dyson was paid cash to open a factory in Wales to give the welsh people jobs the so badly needed .Not sure how long he stayed there for.probably the time he had to start paying rent for the factory !
But the making of those rubbish vacum cleaners were nothing to do with how the welsh people put them together, its the designers that designed the awful things.
No i am not Welsh,i dont know any Welsh people.

I'm tempted to get this one. Its now £69.99, but looking through the Argos catalogue, I can't see it in there for £149?

Sazere, we took ours back to Argos on Friday. When the assistant asked what was wrong with it, she had to stop me, lol! There was no problem in getting a full refund on it. I cleaned the filter, etc just in case that would be a problem, but they didn't check, she knew we had used it in order to find out how crap it was. The fact that it wouldn't pick up properly and the, ahem, 'turbo tool', was more of an ornament was enough for them!

Have you still got the receipt? If not, we've taken a bank statement in to Argos as proof of purchase before to return an item, when we've paid by switch and not kept a receipt. Unless you paid cash and have lost the receipt? Still worth a go if you're wanting to swap it for a different one, they might give you vouchers, etc? Good luck!

Incidentally, I chickened out and bought a Dyson DC07 All Floors from Comet for £149.99, reduced from £249.99....exactly the same model as my other. :o It's got a 5 year guarantee now though. (You can order it through the internet and get cashback from Quidco, but it doesn't quite cover the delivery costs, you need to pay about 75p delivery after you take the Quidco cashback into account, still not bad if you can't be bothered to pick it up)

I must admit, as soon as I used it it's shifted loads of stuff that the old Dyson and the new Vax had missed. Seriously considering the £55 Dyson service, just a worry that they might sting us on parts as I think it might need a new soleplate and possibly a new hose for underneath. Sigh. Still waiting for a reply from their Customer Services department, too.....
