  • Me and my better half braved the sales at House of Fraser at Lakeside and got a Bosch 1800 for sixty quid from one fourty. it's the first vacum cleaner that has got all the dog hair up from the carpet. They had an alright selection but it all depends on your budget.;)
  • my hoover has died too, thought I would give it another go today and just make sure it was really dead...think the sparks flying from the plug and the burning smell told me it was definately dead :rotfl:

Im now on the hunt for a new hoover, and im quite swayed by another dyson cylinder, found one for £128 ish, is there any cheaper then that?

I have just bought the Vax 2400 watt pet and bagless hoover from Argos in the sales, it has been reduced from £149 to £74 and it is fantastic best buy so far for me

This is the one I had my eye on. I looked it up on a comparison site and it got one star, that is what put me off but I understand that it is a new model.
I was reading a thread on another site about vacuum cleaners and almost eveyone who had Dysons, dumped them because of tubes splitting.

There are so many on the market that it is a daunting task trying to find the best vacuum cleaner for your needs.

I was in Argos today and there is a bagless cylinder, 1600 watts, reduced from £44.99 to £ 29.99. The make is Proaction, I am not familiar with this make so I don't know if it is any good. Can anyone help here???

I have a Panasonic 1000 watts that is driving me to distraction. It sucks up then blows it out the back. I can spend two hour's vacuuming three carpets.

Should I spend a fortune on a vacuum cleaner, or, buy
a cheaper one and dump it when the suction goes?

My 7 year old Dyson went bang this week, so I've reserved one of the half price ones in the Argos sale. Picking it up today. :T

My Dyson All Floor broke on Christmas Eve (the clips holding the cylinder bit broke off along with the clips holding the wand upright - they only broke when I knocked it over trying to bodge the cylinder bit and it hit the wall in the hallway). So today I have bought a Vax Power Reach Turbo Bagless Upright 1600 watt from Argos half price in the sale £49.99 and it seems great. Just realising how bad the Dyson was getting at picking up!

  • Ive replaced parts on my Dyson Dc01 many times over the years. Far cheaper than buying new vacuums. Look on ebay for the spare parts if you can fix it yourself. It amazes me how many people get rid of perfectly good vacs when they could fix them for a tenner.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

The hose went on my DC04 a few months back, so I had a look on Ebay, found a few available, then had a look on the Dyson site only to find out that they were about £5 cheaper straight from Dyson! Since then Ive changed the clutch, which was £17 from Dyson, and its still going strong. Im sure that most of the Dysons that get binned could be repaired within an hour if the parts were to hand, and Dyson CS are very helpful, and are willing to sell the 'trade' parts that are not on their site to the public if you explain that you are capable.

Six years and still going. :D

  • I buy my hoovers from Costco, I have gone through 3 Dysons and now have a Bissell Lift off and they have all been Crap. As they wear out I take them back in one door get a refund and go in and buy a different model, I must say this Bissell is the worst. The bagless canister is very small, it is very heavy when upright for pushing about, the plate at the bottom doesnt come off to clean the brushes and the motor blows out VERY VERY hot air, so if you are using it as a lift off you have to carry it blowing out all this hot air, as if you lay it down to move stuff out of the way or need to use your other hand you have to lay it on the motor as it is on the back. The ONLY positive thing I could say about it is, the front bit is quite low so it fits under the front of our suite, which the dyson didn't, but other then that I have built myself up into such a rage about this one I can feel a trip to costco coming on, see if they have a vax!! sorry about the rant, regards R x.
