  • She appears to lack insight as she is not compliant with the medication for long enough to realise she needs to meds to realise she needs them, this is why bipolar individuals need carers....

another bipolar mum here :o also my mum was bipolar too (not sure which) my mum was very abusive. i grew up in an incrediably abusive environment. both from my mother ans stepfather. alcohol played a huge part in their lives. my siblings blamed the fact that my mother let me suffer the abuse from my stefather, on her illness. something i have never truly believed she had :o my siblings never endured the abuse i did. so she was obviously able to control herself sometimes. she couls switch her mood to whatever the situation needed. very manipulative and used that to be the centre of attention. just over a year ago i confronted her about all of it. she threatened to kill herself (like she had so many times before when she didnt agree with what was said) except this time she did

i think she had problems but not bipolar. i have bipolar but i am nothing like my mother. i struggle to keep my temper in check sometimes but very rarely do i lose it with anyone but myself. it is usually down to bottling things up and overloading as such. i certainly am not abusive towards my ds.

not sure how i think this will help you but thats how it is for me :o

this is so true she fell out with her neighbours who have been very good neighbours for over 30 yrs because she decided she didnt like the trees out their garden :o:o it was awful as the neighbours are elderly & i class them as almost part of the family
