No need they "disable" the cable modem by de-registering it in the same way as they can activate, or not, the network connection of the TV box.If it's cable,then the'll be a engineer going out to the cab to do a physical disconnect.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I suspect they do disconnect the cable at some point to make it a bit harder to fit a hookey stb or modem. Plus unterminated cables can introduce noise into the system.0

They also do a physical disconnect at the mux for the phone & the street cabinet for all services.I know,after all,I did do it for several years before redundency.If anything,it hinders connection of chipped cable boxes &/or cloned modems.0
