Have you thought of adoption? There are so many children who would benefit from a loving home.

IVF is what you want to to, Spain may be a cheaper option.

The problem with egg sharing is that you basically get a 'refund' after the procedure if you have produced enough viable eggs.
For example if you only produce a couple of viable eggs they will try to fertilise them and then put 1 or 2 back in you. In this case there would be no eggs to 'donate' to get money off.
you have to be prepared to pay the top whack and if you get itt cheaper be happy with that.
Alternatively you could try Cyprus which is a lot cheaper than the UK.

OP - talk to Macmillan, they may know of grants to cover the cost. And please ignore those who've suggested you withdraw the stored sperm, becuase the obviously don't understand sperm storage.

Most clinics have an egg share scheme - give the your local clinics a ring & they should be happy to give you some info.

An inital consultation with a fertility clinic is usually about £120 -150 so it may be worth booking one of those to discuss other options such as IUI.

I think you should be gratful for the child you have and not look for hand outs. The NHS should be concentrating on people who need not want their services,

I have suffered infatility so I do know how much it hurts but we can not afford to be financing IVF and other non needed things.

The OP is not looking for "hand outs" but is concidering donating her eggs in exchange for subsidised treatment.

The turkey baster is not an option as I assume limited amount of sperm has been stored and a large number of the live sperm will be killed through defrosting. You could maybe consider IUI where they wash the sperm and only keep the live ones and then put it close to your fallopian tubes, but then you would only have one go at best, so not a great option.

ICSI is your best option as they will only need to have a few sperms that they put straight into the eggs. This is why what you've been quoted is a bit more than standard IVF.

In regards to egg donation, you can definitely consider it, but you will have to meet a set number of criteria first, you have to be no older than 35, BMI under a certain level, not smoke, and your FSH (test for egg quality) under a certain level. Then, as Liane says, the deal is that you have to give half of your eggs to the recipient so you have to produce a certain number for them to agree to this and they won't know how many eggs you are likely to produce until you've already quite into the process.

You have nothing to lose but for £150 to discuss it with the consultant. If you are young and healthy, it is definitely an avenue to investigate.

You are very lucky if you get IVf for 'only' 4k.
I have a wealth of experience on the subject (7 rounds) and the price is considerably higher than that with all the drugs etc.
I know diff clinics have different prices but I still think that could be a conservative estimate.
Good luck in finding a solution

Good luck Lisa, 7 rounds... you must be a very determine lady, hope round 8 will finally bring success :)

Might be worth looking on the Infertility Network website (it's the first link that comes up with Google) - they'll probably know more about your options (and be free of the self-righteous indignant t0$$ers who see their right to stick their beak in on anything like this) or be able to put you in touch with someone who does know if they don't.

I can only speak for the PCT trusts in my local area who are among the cruddiest in terms of what they offer - they won't offer any help to someone in your situation - mind you, they offer naff-all help to anyone on anything anyway.

    Gem-Gems

I'm very sorry to hear your husband has cancer and that you're in this position.

However I would recommend that you get your answers form somewhere more informed than here and disregard at least half the comments. Honestly, do people not think about posting misinformed rubbish?

You need to contact the HFEA http://www.hfea.gov.uk/ where you'll find information about all the different treatment options plus clincs local to you that offer the different options.

I've just done a cycle where I donated my eggs and this is where I started. Good luck and I hope your husband makes a full recovery.

ETA - there are places where you can get funding if you already have children. Also the 'refund' post is entirely untrue and clinics hold open evenings which are free to attend so don't pay out for a consultation.
