Well done on having a clean slate after paying the essentials and good luck on sorting some extra debt payments!

  • Hi
Last day of the summer holidays tomorrow :j:j can't wait for Moo to go back to school so I can get things done and enjoy some peace and quiet but I am sure I will miss her during the day .

Seeing as tomorrow is the last day we have one more place to tick off on our school holidays to do list so tomorrow we are off to the planetarium at greenwhich I'm looking forward to it I have never been before . Moo needs to find out information about the planet Neptune .

So a packed lunch and a rollerblade around the park after (her not me ,I can just about walk in a straight line :rotfl:) should be a fairly inexpensive day out .

Hi Hovel Lady I have been lurking on your diary and have read that you are having a bit of a carp time lately sorry have not posted but I am useless at finding the right words ,but i am thinking of you x

  • So I'm back from outta space still skint and not debt free

Settled in to new job having the extra money has been a bit of a novelty and I have not been money wise at all , finally all tax credits and housing benefit has been sorted out so I now have a clear idea of what's what

Have been a bit reckless with the money treating me and moo lots :o
But now it's time to knuckle down and not be so frivolous with the pennies .

My plan is more or less the same to get through Christmas without having to beg and borrow and then after the new year start tackling the debt. I worked out that it will take me 14 years to pay it off at the rate I am paying at the moment -I THINK NOT :eek:

Anyway I'm back and here to get motivated again .

Here's a thought do you all do a weekly food shop to last for the whole week or do you buy just what you need for a few days at a time ?
I am thinking will need to change grocery shopping habits see if it's cheaper and how much do you budget for food a week ? Just curious

  • Morning

So this weeks financial status doesn't look to shabby :j

I have withdrawn cash from the bank and put my spending money in one purse and my grocery spending money in another it seems to be the way forward . I have 35 quid left in the spending purse to last until tuesday bearing in mind that it's half term .

We are off swimming later which is free as pay for gym membership so hoping for a nsd today . Tomorrow should be a minimal spend day as we are going new school shoe shopping . The money for school shoes is separate . I am annoyed though as moo only had a new pair at the start of the new school year 6 weeks ago and she has picked at the sole of shoes and now has a hole in them .

As for grocery fund I have 15 left again to last to Tuesday . Planning to use up bits I already have and have a new tactic of buying only what we need for the next couple of days instead of 1 big weekly food shop . So far working out better .

But here's the not so good stuff CSA money is late and wages get paid in account on Monday however I am late in paying phone bill, council tax and water  plus I have rent and gym membership to pay out for in the next couple of days  . It just means no extra spending money .
    :(

But november is all planned and budgeted for and looks a much better month :T

  • My NSD didn't happen :(

Moo has been invited to a fancy dress Halloween party and naturally she has nothing to wear so off to the pound shop today to buy cheap tacky accessories to turn her into a vampire oh and a black t-shirt from primani

I think Halloween is soo over rated and a money making con I don't remember it being such a big thing when I was a kid . Anyway money spent now moo not entirely happy as she wanted to decorate the house like our neighbours have but I put my foot down :p

I'm not so much of a spoil sport we do have a pumpkin to carve and put outside :rotfl:

  • With only 3 days till I have a brand new shiny weekly budget I'm very impressed with myself as I still have money left in both the food purse And the spends purse :T:T this is unheard of for me !!!!!!. Although the amounts are not huge they will see us through till Tuesday .

Still not received CSA payment :( when I checked with them yesterday they said exOH employers not sent money to them yet . Knowing my luck he has probably left company
Because of this I've got to prioritise where my wages go on Monday and juggle around a bit what goes where .

Money aside I've had a good day Moo is now all kitted out with new school shoes and has been given strict instructions NOT to pick at the soles when assembly is boring and when she is running around at playtime she must pick her feet up . I did also threaten that if she makes holes in these new shoes in only 6 weeks I will mend the holes with cardboard :rotfl::rotfl: she was not impressed :rotfl::rotfl:
She also got new swimming goggles courtesy of nanny and I got treated to a hairdye I can't afford to getitdone at hair dressers so going to cancel my appointment .

    Have a lovely evening all
