O/S Goals/Life changes for 2007

Hi all
I have massive goals for 2007, ( movingt house, new job, less timewasting) but in terms of OSing I would like to:
1. start up the wormery again and read the instructions properly and reduce our waste that way.
2. Meal plan weekly, EVERY week.
3. buy one random ingredient thing in supermarkets weekly so I can keep my coking momentum going
4. lose weight
Yes, I too have piled on the pounds in 06, looking forward to a more svelte 2007
5.a few things I need to learn how to make including pastry and cakes ( erm ignore point above :rotfl:) and make jams etc for Xmas next year, hopefully using something from the wilds of London!
6. If we move, buy ( or hopefully get one off freecycle
) a chest freezer and make the most of it.
Anyway, all the best to all of you in 07
Lynz
xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Had a voucher in the summer for a free tub of Lurpak and it was lovely, so hang the expense we're changing to it permanently. We'll just have to spread it a bit thinner!
I am taking same step. Quick tip for spreading thin: I keep a 250g block-type butter in the fridge so it is rock hard and use the "Julienne Peeler" from Lakeland Ltd to cut off spreadable shreds. One swipe should be ample for single slice of toast (and will soften faster when trying to cover fresh bread for sandwiches). The 500g Anchor block is too wide.If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0 -
Re butter don't forget to support our dairy farmers, they're a dying breed Buy British Butter

Ooh Thriftlady, good point
. Actually is Kerrygold acceptable, or near enough? Being of half-Irish parentage, it would be a small tribute to my late dad to support the old homeland. Not sure if they do a so-called spreadable one though.
Lurpak is meant to be spreadable but puts up a bit of resistance at first! Thanks TDD for the tip - I have a cheese parer, which would probably do the same trick.
I'm a butter tart, I'll get any type that gives me a voucher for a freebie! :rotfl:
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

plans for 2007
1. continue bulking up meals with veg and freezing into individual foil tins (like takeaway for nights we can't be bothered or are busy)
2. plan to grow some veg in tubs (got some seeds reduced)
3. budget our shopping better - i need to calculate what we actually spend for a month then aim to reduce it (per grocery challenge)
4. once a week make a meal from stuff which has been in the cupboard for ages.
5. use the slow cooker more often
6. join and do as many survey sites / points sites as i can be bothered with to help pay for xmas 2007
7. buy and collect items for presents throughout the year (joining mse xmas club)
8. subscribe to mags with good gifts for presents
9. try to dedicate 20mim per day to comp entering - hopefully i will be lucky.
10. reclaim remaining bank charges
11. continue weight loss:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-09

Here goes:
1. To create a weekly menu plan and stick to it.
2. Take more exercise - to visit the gym more often and to walk for 30 mins a day.
3. Reduce the amount spent in the supermarket each week.
4. Completely declutter the house - either selling, freecycling or donating the stuff we don't want.
5. Lose weight, so that I'm at my pre-baby weight. I think 2 years is too long to hold on to it!
6. Dedicate at least 2 nights a week to spend with my OH - Life's kind of overtaken and we've both been neglecting this. Be good to chat without any distractions...0 -
got new set of plates etc with petrol points , much smaller diameter than usual ones so my hope is that the portion downsizing will save money and help me lose weight! 2 birds, 1 stone type thing. We are hoping to put house up for sale early in 2007 so I will be trying my best to do this as cheaply as possible and have already looked at some of the info on the site about it. Did quite a bit of cooking several meals at once and freezing last year so intend to keep up with that and to make more use of pastry and sauces to make meat etc go further.
Good Luck to all , wish you a cheap and cheerful 2007!

Not sure if mine are OS or Moneysaving, but something many of us should think of (me especially - brain aneurysm in 2000 and knee replacement in 2006). I'm going to:
(a) see to our wills
(b) write down all bank account numbers/insurance policy numbers etc, along with relevant telephone numbers etc. to make it easier for executors to deal with (tip from a lawyer friend) but hopefully not necessary for many years to come!
I'm going to continue making good use of breadmaker - not bought a loaf since April 2006.
Use EasiYo Yoghurt maker and ice-cream maker which were Christmas presents (so not allowed to buy any yoghurt or ice-cream from now on.
Get back into using Juicer (which I used lots and lots at first).
Have a wonderful 2007.0 -
Ok here goes with my list......
Do a car boot in the spring and this time really mean it when I say whatever is left over is going to the charity shop. The loft needs to be clear as can be so we can properly insulate ready for winter next year.
Spend time with DS just playing games and enjoying each others company and remember not to get too bogged down with other stuff that can wait.
Buy freezer boxes to put portions of spag bol etc in for DH to take to work when he's on late shift and get him to donate the money he would have spent on rubbishy microwave meals into the holiday savings fund.
Use my gorgeous new shopping trolley to shop locally which will cut down on car use.
Keep a daily record of expenditure. I've been meaning to do this for ages but finally started in December and it's a huge eyeopener.
My sister and I have agreed a £10 maximum spend on each other's Christmas present for next year and all gifts are to come from either the charity shop/carboot/jumble sales as we both love shopping at all of these and enjoy a bargain. Will keep eyes peeled for more gifts from these places.
Teach DS the value of money. Start giving him pocket money.
Use the mini exercise trampoline every morning before breakfast that I was given for my birthday the year before last to help banish the extra pounds gained.
Good luck to everyone....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

I'm going to dedicate 2007 to the following:
1. Calculating and starting to clear my debt
2. Selling unwanted/unused belongings via Ebay/Amazon/Car Boot Sales
3. Learning to cook (DH and I are turning into pizzas and ready meals!!!!)
4. Incorporating OS Money saving into my life - menu planning, grocery challenges and store cupboard challenges
Good luck to you all with your 2007 aims
