Your only real option is 2 in back and one in front.0 -

That place sells specially designed car seats that will fit in most cars, the problem is they are very expensive!!
I do not think 3 car seats will fit in the back a Golf. First of all there probably won't be enough room, second most car seats require 3 point seat belts.
Maybe you could enquire as to getting one car seat in the front, two in the back, with one passenger squeezing in the middle at the back. Not sure if you can have car seats in the front of your car though.
Am I the only one that feels uncomfortable with the use of Multimac seats in a car?
Sure they say it's safe, meets ECE regs and I don't doubt the seat structure will perform well in a frontal impact and restrain he kids properly.
I'm uncomfortable with fitting 4 kids into 3 spaces or 3 kids into 2 spaces in the rear of a car. When you have a front or rear impacts you have crumple zones. With a side impact there is no space for the kids to go. Side impacts involve considerable intrusion as there are no crumple zones. Sure there are door beams, curtain airbags and on a few rare cars rear side airbags.
Look at any side impact accident and the driver will often be trapped and in pain with the doors several feet into the passenger cabin. The man without a signature.0 -
Hi, how old are your twins? I ask as you can put one in the front (if theres no airbag or its disabled), and then have the other one plus new baby in the back with some unfortunate sitting in the middle.
Its not against the law to have a child seat in the front as long as the airbag is either not there or is disabled.0 -
Is the Golf your main family car? If you don't have an adult travelling with you and have a safe seat in the front of the car (if it has no airbags) then I'm sure you will be ok.
My daughter is 12 and is a skinny thing... we had two car seats in the back of our car and it was ok 3 years ago.. but as she grew she was so squashed and it was just torture for her to climb over the two car seats and sit in there for anything over a 20 minute journey.. we'd never have got an adult in there!
This was in the back of a Lexus 4x4 ... I've had a Golf and there was a lot more room in the back of the Lexus than the VW.
We've now had to get a 7 seater.0 -

It's our only car. I'm a bit worried by your comment about the Lexus as our next plan was to get an estate car, but it sounds like we're likely to have the same problem with that as well. We were trying to avoid a people carrier as they're expensive and seem to be a bit short on non-people space.0 -
Friends of ours have a VW Touran they have 3 seats in back each having 3 point seatbelts. The boot is huge but also has 2 fold down seats so making a roomy 5 seat car into a 7 seat car if and when needed. They picked there's up for around £7000 I thinkDon't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend...

I have 3 kids aged 6, 3 and 6 months so between them they have 2 boosters and a baby seat. We changed our car to a Renault Grand Scenic just to get them in and have enough boot space for the buggy, shopping and so on. You really need 3 full size seats to get the boosters/car seats in to fit properly and be able to do the straps and belts up.
It's true, once you get over the 2 kids mark your options vanish! If you have the money go for a VW Transporter, (at least 15k for a decent one) otherwise Ford Galaxy, Citroen, Seat Alhambra. Don't bother with Vauxhall Zafira.....it think's its a people carrier, it isn't, you wont get the car seats in the back."Put the kettle on Turkish, lets have a nice cup of tea.....no sugars for me.....I'm sweet enough"0 -

These have plenty of non-people space.0 -
Could you get a cheap people carrier until your kids are old enough to not need car seats? Once they're out of car seats/booster seats a normal five-seater car should be fine (obviously safer with a middle three point seat belt than a lap belt.
A colleague of mine has three kids and he said it's the perfect number (I say two is!) as you can still buy a normal car (i.e. not a people carrier). His kids are older though (9-14). They have a Merc E-class estate and regularly drive across France on holiday with all five of them and a boot-full of luggage with no problems.0
