Renault Laguna suspension collapse... has this happened to anybody else?

I am starting to get the impression that these cars should not be parked outside the owners house.
I own a 51 plate laguna. 60k miles in very good condition. As with many others I have parked it up 2 days later gone to drive it. Found a loud grinding noise. The F/N/S coil is in bits. I have trashed the tyre discovering this.
Advice please. Should I replace both front springs at once?
I have seen a wide range of cost but would £250 to get both springs done seem reasonable?0 -
Springs are usually only sold in matching pairs anyway. If you just replaced one the other would probably be more prone to going soon given the new one is stiffer, and also handling and braking performance would be compromised. I'd consider looking for uprated ones rather than ones supplied by Renault (if this is what always happens to the Renault ones).0

You just do not replace a single spring, full stop. Abit like servicing the right bank of a V8 whilst leaving the left back to fester:mad::mad::mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

It may be a good idea to replace all items with non-Renault parts, you may just finish up with a decent car that way..

hi , just today my right side front spring has broken . the spring cup looks intact though . i had an mot done 12 days ago and it passed ok . we have been away , car has been sitting on the drive , for 10 days and i started it up to take it for a spin . as i got towards the end of my cul-de-sac i heard a strange wirring noise . i came back to find damage to a week old tyre and a broken spring . not sure if it broke while standing , while we were away or as i drove it off the drive . this too could have been serious with the kids in the car at speed .
i have the 2.0l ide engined initiale hatchback version . i have had problems with drivers side window mechanism , replaced under warranty . fuel pressure sensor , replaced under warranty . sat nav failed - renault spent 3 hours on it and couldn't fix it ! still not working . i have replaced 2 batteries , had key card problems , the climate/air con / heating module display gets brighter or dimmer on its own . the fuel pressure sensor has failed again and there's a 2 month wait at renault ! itgoes into a sort of limp home mode that restricts the revs , speaks to you to tell you to go to a renault dealer , as it has a fuel injection and esp fault , drives me mad . turning the engine of and on again clears it for a while as long as you keep the revs up on tickover . it had a spate of blowing fuses for a while also. although it is a comfortable car to drive , particularily long distance cruising . i have become to hate the thing , wondering if it will start or get us there . it would have gone if we had the money to replace it . there is no pride of ownership, can't wait to get rid. spring going today is the last straw , car is 2002 model .
from speaking to other people clios and meganes haves lots of their own problems so buy any renault with caution .
better go and get somesprings , bye for now.0
