I just find it very hard to believe its the safest.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

While I am very upset at the running costs and apparently poor workmanship and lack of learning ability of Renault .......... substandard materials v safest vehicle? safest vehicle v substandard materials? In all honesty, I know which I would chose. Junk - yes. Safest - yes.
So a maker that produces cars that have common suspension collapses is " safest " in your book.
Of course, any car / vehicle is only as "safe " as the nut behind the wheel.
I would not touch a Renault with barge pole.0 -

Sorry to say it, but substandard materials = poor safety...You can't say a vehicle is "safest" just based on airbags, crash tests etc. A car that spontaneously falls to pieces doesn't *sound* safe to me...?0 -
Well, it was only my mate who told me it was the safest car on the roads, but I did not ask him which part of it was being regarded as safe. Mind you, everyone here who has told of their suspension failure is obviously still alive to tell the tale. Are there those who are not able to tell their tale?
I suppose the most unsafe experience I have had in ANY car was this Laguna when the Turbo went. It makes the engine go at FULL REVS and I can assure you, that is not a funny experience when it has never happened to me before and fast approaching and therefore fast accelerating towards a roundabout!! What does one do in those circumstances? The answer: Keep the engine engaged (if you don't, the engine continues its massive revving with TONS of engine oil filled smoke out the back) and BRAKE like H*******LLLL to stall the engine. I promise you, that is the only way out of that predicament - the stop button does NOT work in those circumstance either.
I still like my Laguna - while looking to change it as we speak hahaha Any suggestions? a 7 seater diesel preferably.0 -
Thanks for all these posts.
It answers my question about why I have just spent out a large amount of money getting recovered 100 miles from home when my Renault Laguna become lopsided after a really nasty grating sound smoke coming from the front wheel, various bits of rubber and plastic falling out.
I should have known really as the guy I bought it from had the same thing happen a week before I bought the car but on the otherside.
So, long journey, car sat in car park, drive away, grating sound, smoke and a large bill. I've joined the club!:p0 -
You should never replace just the one side, this almost invariably leads to the failure of the other side as it gets over stressed as the weaker side:money:
Any car not just Rennies;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Isn't that a strange statement to make?
They are junk IMO.0 -

Its a problem with the car I bet you had the 120hp 1.9 dci 6 speed model?
there is a fix firstly change the oil more and secondly check/chnage the oil feed lines and there no issue.0
