I get through about 4 dozen eggs a week. They never ever go in the fridge.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

RE: Where things are kept in Supermarkets, do you keep bread and cakes on self-service display at home?
No, but self-service areas aren't refrigerated
Most people I know keep them in the fridge (cheese or cream cakes)
Cheese and cream cakes are refrigerated in supermarkets
Other cakes don't need to be refrigerated.or in a bread bin
Which are not refrigerated and therefore the perfect place to keep bread

I keep mine in the fridge, that way I'm sure they will not get rotten LOL!:rotfl:As for salmonella, some time ago there was a discussion on BBC Breakfast abt eggs, and they said British eggs are the safest, as all the hens are vaccinated against salmonella. Also they said that you shouldn't be scared to eat eggs cos of cholesterol, as the amount in them will not make any difference to your blood cholesterol. Even yolks are ok.If you feel my post has been useful, " merci" would not go amiss.

as we are talking about eggs. i havent seen a double yolker for years, any idea where/why they disappeared?
I had some from my local fruit shop, they were large eggs and everyone of the dozen was a double yolker.
You usually get at least a couple in every dozen when you buy them from there.0 -
I keep them in the fridge out of habit now but with 4 young kids it used to be the safest place.
My MIL keeps bread and canned (unopened) food in the fridge, seems odd to me but I do keep fruit in the salad tray as it keeps longer and I have this fear of flies touching my apples :rotfl:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
I keep them in the fridge, mainly because I don't have much worktop space so they're safer in there.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I recently started keeping bread in the fridge this year. My bread stays fresher for so much longer. Haven't had any mouldy bread yet. I previously though that was weird.
I do keep my eggs in the fridge so I can use them past the use by date. I find out and I can really only use them to their use by date and they start going funny.0
