Asda in Warrington town centre charge for parking, but it is on a retail park. But if you spend over a fiver in Asda you park for free.0

the morrisons and asda by me (walsall centre) both charge £1 per hour, but if you spend more than £5 in store they refund the ticket, it's to prevent people seeking free parking when working/shopping in walsall town centre. Instead they now just park outside my house which is a 10 minute walk away...0

Our Morrisons charge for up to two hours (£1.60), refunded if you spend more than £10 in their store. This seems perfectly reasonable to me. The local Lidls is plagued by people who take up their spaces without shopping there, but there is not much they can do about it.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I would never give my custom to a shop that charges its customers to park. Even if they give a refund if you spend a tenner or whatever, what if they didnt have what you went in for? You'd be paying for nowt.what makes you think the parking ticket is not enforceable? of course it is, you have been reading too many threads on this site about 'getting out of paying' when you have either
-not parked within the rules
-not displayed a ticket when required to do so.
Utter bollox. Read the parking forum Dave.0 -
Hi Guys, just wanting to clarify a few things.
I have read all this about parking tickets etc from parking eye. Dont pay etc.
What about Morrisons car parks.
Everytime i go there i pay for some reason. Do most people not pay anymore because they know the ticket is not enforceable and end up ignoring it anyway or do people still pay to avoid the hastle
simple question - no arguing or anything
thanks
It depends on who is running the car park. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Lots of supermarket car parks are also "municipal" car parks. Generally speaking, the parking is refunded at the till after spending a minimum amount. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Asda, Tilehurst, Reading is the same as there is a retail park adjacent.0 -
Morecambe Morrisons has ticket machines as well, but I think you get a free ticket for the 1st 2 hours or something, then pay after that.0

I parked in a retail park which allowed 3 hours free parking. Unfortunately I forgot the time and today received a letter from a company employed by Morrison's stating I had parked for 93 minutes over the 3 hours allowed and claiming I must pay £90 within 28 days or £70 if paid within 14 days. They state they have photographic evidence of when I arrived and left the car park.
Whilst I wouldn't normally park for so long on this occasion time simply just ran away with me. I did actually buy some groceries in Morrison's which is the thing that is annoying me the most.
I think the amount claimed is extortionate and having read all the comments made in these threads I believe that the "fine" is unenforceable. Although I am nervous I have decided NOT to pay - I am going to ignore the letter and hope for the best!!! Any advice or comments welcome. Thanks0 -
Four and a half hours in Morrison's, what on Earth were you doing? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
