Morrisons car park
Hi Guys, just wanting to clarify a few things.
I have read all this about parking tickets etc from parking eye. Dont pay etc.
What about Morrisons car parks.
Everytime i go there i pay for some reason. Do most people not pay anymore because they know the ticket is not enforceable and end up ignoring it anyway or do people still pay to avoid the hastle
simple question - no arguing or anything
thanks

Don't think i've ever seen a Morrisons(or any supermarket for that matter) charge for parking. Chances are your going to spend a fair bit of money in the store so it is pure cheek to charge for parking imo. My advice would be go to a different Morrisons0

I think most who do charge refund if you spend in the store. I would pay for parking, but not for any silly contravention a PPC dreamed up!0

The couple that charge round here do just that. I think it is mainly stores that are close to town centres that do it just to stop people using their car parks to shop in other shopsI would pay for parking, but not for any silly contravention a PPC dreamed up!
Me too0 -
what makes you think the parking ticket is not enforceable? of course it is, you have been reading too many threads on this site about 'getting out of paying' when you have either
-not parked within the rules
-not displayed a ticket when required to do so.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
Ahh I see, I've never heard of that before.0

Err, tickets issued by the jokers who predate Morrisons car parks are generally unenforcable for a good number of reasons.
Not least because they (or the following letters) are almost always criminal misrepresentation under Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act. Only councils, police or a few other bodies under statutory regulation have the authority to issue fines or penalties - Private operators in supermarket car parks do not.
However, there is an issue here as Morrisons are still charging in the OP's car park, so yes it is possible they could take civil action against the OP but that could only be for the actual loss - ie the cost of parking plus reasonable costs. Which is an avenue the PPCs never pursue.0 -

so the dedicated thread all to do with parking tickets is just a load of balony?
sorry, but unless the police or traffic warden has put the ticket on it and its council run land these supposed tickets are just peices of printed toilet paper.
i know the fines from TCP PE etc etc are uninforceable, yes i do pay for a ticket at these supermarket car parks, but i will not pay a supposed fine for not parking in a bay at a supposed slight angle not exceeding the white bay markers, wich TCP tried to do me for in the past amoungst other stupid supposed contraventions they invent to ticket you like parking in a non restricted unmarked but reserved staff parking bay wich was one i was given by PE 2 years ago and that was how the contrevention was worded in the invoice on my driverside window stuck on with duck tape.0 -
My local Morrisons had ticket machines for a while, it was partly due to council pressure, because they assumed people were parking there instead of the town car parks (The council car parks are all rammed at weekends, so I don't know which "genius" dreamed up that idea).
It was also partly due to an overzealous new manager at the store.
You had to pay for a ticket by picking your vehicle from a set of photo's taken as you enter the carpark, pay £2, do your shopping, get the money refunded in store. But it was SUCH a pain in the rear that people started shopping at Tesco and Sainsbury's instead. Whislt I used certain technology to "jam" the ANPR camera's on the entrance as I entered the carpark... I had months of hassle free, empty store shopping
Idea was abandoned within a few months and the expensive looking ticket machines now wear cheap plastic bin bags.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I don't think a store manager would have any control over car park charging. That would be set by head office.
Usually ticket machines in supermarket car parks are because the council charge to park in all the car parks in that particular town/district.0
