Kindle arrived today, amazed how quick its come on standard free delivery! Not really had chance to have a good play with it yet, but it looks like new, absolutely blemish free, and i so cant wait to get stuck in. DS has just had a new mobile this week with a USB plug, so, - sorted!! :)

    Thanks again op

    xx

Ordered mine 3G version it arrived today...wifi working but not connecting to the kindle store and no 3G service. Phoned amazon customer service (actually they phoned me after I used the web form) they tried to fix it remotely which didn't work :( got them to call me again...end result it has to go back :( however they are sending me a brand new replacement (not refurbished) kindle for no extra cost...once again terrific customer service from amazon.

Hmmm... I just posted a thread in the Techie section because I couldn't get the 3g to work on mine either. I wonder if this is a fault with all the refurbished 3g Kindles...

My 3g didn't work either - however, one call to support and they 'reactivated' it after a couple of ALT 311's and ALT 611's (google this!). So I'm very happy and will have 3g internet throughout the world - free! I know it's not a brill browser - but I'll be able to send /check emails and search for places and weather while travelling. Oh - and download books if I need them! All for £111 ish!!! SWEET deal.

Mine arrived yesterday but unfortunately it wouldn't hold a charge. Contacted Amazon this morning and a new one has already been despatched to me 1st class post. Very apologetic on the phone and no problem about replacing and they will organise for the broken one to be picked up.

Regards the light, I bought the official kindle case with the light that pulls out. Yes it is expensive but I wouldn't be without it, much prefer it to any type of clip on light.

Also not sure how a touch screen would work with the matt e-ink screen the kindle has. I love reading and that is what I bought the kindle for, it doesn't need a touch screen and if they interfere with the screen the current kindle has then I wouldn't want to buy a newer model.

And make sure you check out mobileread.com read their threads on using calibre and joining online e-libraries (no the kindle doesn't natively support epub, but there are ways).
