Thinking about it, you could just get one of those plugs with a usb port adaptor in it as an alternative"It is not uncommon for slight acquaintances to get married, but a couple really have to know each other to get divorced." - Anonymous0 -
the brand new one I bought last week didn't come with a power adaptor.... it charged fine through the laptop x (& if I'd seen this first I'd have bought a refurbished one).KrispiiDuck wrote: »Even cheaper on 7dayshop.com
Thanks for the replies!
After trawling through all the info on the Amazon Kindle Store (they do like to go on, don't they!) I found that they can be charged through a computer with the USB cable. I did try to come back to this thread to reply, but it had disappeared  I assume they were tweaking the thread because the offer was going to be in today's MoneySaving email.
Don't forget to go through Nectar for cashbackThey're doing double points for Amazon until Friday.

Can anyone tell me if the Kindle has a backlight now, as I would like to read in bed without disturbing OH?0

No backlight
pro - can be read in sunlight
pro - low power consumption - charge lasts weeks
con - need some light to read, can get clip on accessory lights0 -
For those worrying about the lack of charger Kindles recharge via USB so you can either charge via your laptop/desktop or if you have a recent mobile the odds are you can use your mobile phone charger to charge it.
Most modern mobile chargers are simply Main -> USB transformers.
eg my old HTC Desire is basically a plug with a USB A socket in it so you can plug your Kindle cable into that no problem.
Also don't forget if you have a 12v ciggie lighter to USB converter you can use that in the car as well.0 -
Got mine delivered today (WiFi £79.99).
It's absolutely spot on! Not sure why anybody would want to pay the full price (£111) for a new one when these are available.0 -

I have just ordered a full price 3g one as I would rather have the extended warranty.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Looks like the new versions are out in October, but that may be just in the US.
The Wall Street Journal reports that in the third quarter, Amazon will introduce a full-fledged Android fondleslab as well as two new versions of its existing Kindle ereader. One of these Kindles will include a touchscreen, the paper says.

as well as Amazons Ipad beater (well maybe)
So the price of existing Kindles is only going to go one way0
