Just a word of warning to anyone wanting to order a new kindle as a gift... I have just ordered one for the OH for his xmas present, only to find out that they just slap an address label on the box and ship it like that. He will be signing for it so suprise ruined. I found this out about five minutes after I ordered it and amazon wont let me cancel it as by then (two days before estimated dispatch) it was already ready to be shipped. Have had to tell OH to ignore door in the hope they leave it with a neighbour. Not happy with amazon! Must stress this is new not refurbished.

Have you tried asking for it to be gift wrapped, tell them you forgot to include it at the time you ordered it. They may let you do it, there is, of course, a charge.

Thanks but they wont even do that! Apparently they cant change anything once it has entered the dispatch process.

You're not happy with Amazon because they processed your order quickly? Is there any reason why you couldn't have put your own name on it and then given it to him yourself?

mmmm not sure what you mean here? amazon have sent it too quick???? All parcels are delivered the same way with people's name & address on
If it was a suprise for hubby why put his name on it???

Think the op means they just put an address label on the actual Kindle box. I ordered one for my OH for his birthday and just came int he kindle box (no other packaging). Unless you know what a Kindle box looks like you wouldn't be any the wiser as doesn't acyually say Kindle ont he box. Excellent item thought and looks like new rather than refurbished.

Mine came inside a non see through tough plastic bag and I suspect yours will too.
It's electrical and I doubt they'll want them to get wet or soggy.
I've found Amazon normally overpack rather than underpack items.
Just had a different item from Amazon today. A well packaged box, which could easily be sent on its' own, inside a HUGE box with lots of brown packaging tape inside so it couldn't move.
