Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 11th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Up bright & early today, so early that I can't focus yet so please excuse any typo's.
Only 2 more weeks at work & then some time off, I am working through part of the holidays as a lot of work needs printing that hasn't been designed yet, heyho, nothing changes.
Sausage & onion sarnies for hubby's packup & steak & kidney for tea.
Time to make another cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning HH and all to follow.
It is beautiful and briight here at the moment and feels quite fresh.
Lentil lasagne for dinner today using the bacon water from Saturday. We will have it with salad from the garden (lettucer, cucumber, tomatoes, onions):)
I too am looking forward to the holidays. I'm hoping to tame the house and get rid of lots of clutter!! Mind you I've probably hoped that for the last several years! You can see I live in hope!!!!
Have a good Monday everyone and sending hugs for all who need them or want them.
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning HH and SM lovely morning here in north Kent.Just the school run to do first thing then a little ironing.had a smashing day yesterday and the family BBQ was lovely.Delicious food and lots of family chat to catch up on.Great to see all the youngsters getting on so well together 8 cousins and their assorted girlfriends and boyfriends plus the three youngest little lads behaved beautifully. My son-in-law Ashley cooked some gorgeous food and we all took different bits to help out.NDS today as I have lots of bits in the fridge so i am staying away from the shops as its only 5 weeks until our holidays so every penny saved goes into the 'ice cream fund' for the beach now.Hope every one has a good day.Cheers JackieO xx0

Morning everyone - another bright and sunny morning here, makes me want to get out and going.
Today I have to head south to the East Mids again but am coming back this evening. I have my chopped eggs and mayo for breakfast, my cream cheese filled chorizo slices for lunch and a flask of coffee for the trip all ready. Organised or what????
When I get back we'll have some bolognaise sauce with a load of vegetable for evening meal. I can already see a difference in my shape and last night was able to fit into a dress which I bought one size down! :j:j Mind you 'fit' and 'able to wear' are slightly different, but it feels great to get it on and off without a struggle. Just need to 'iron out' the bumps around my hips. I've got an overseas business trip coming up soon and a couple of weddings so the dress will be perfect - once a few more pounds are gone.
Last night I broke a very old and very large mirror in the hall. It has lived for years propped up on a chest of drawers but I had moved it in the morning to hoover behind the chest. When I put it back it was at too acute an angle and it toppled. The glass is about an inch thick! I got three bin bags inside each other and managed to slide most of it in -but had to hoover the carpet for ages as the little tiny pieces were everyone. Trouble is that I like to have bare feet and am not happy at having to wear flipflops in the house. My bad though. Will need to live with the seven years bad luck and the cost of a new mirror which NEEDS to be hung on the wall.
I hope everyone has a good day - Happy Monday.0 -
Good Morning Everyone - new week, new day!
Up before 5am as I couldn't sleep, so handwashing is on the line and I need to get the stuff from the WM out as well. Incredibly busy w/e, rushing from hither to yon and back again as Mum used to say. Absolutely shattered by bedtime - so a bit of a mystery as to why I slept so badly!
DS returned home yesterday so hope he manages to cope again.
Gers, I do sympathise - glass seems to get everywhere...and even after you've hoovered up every tiny particle you still find a few more!
Plans for today include yet more decluttering upstairs, meal-planning for the rest of the week and the related shopping. Later off to visit friend battling with that nasty "c" word - only found out this w/e so a bit of a shock.
Need to make bread today.
Had my card cancelled again on Friday as bank have detected some "unusual usage" - second time in past three months! Oh well, a few non-spending days ahead until the replacement arrives!
Hope you all have a good day today. Take care.Resolution:

Morning all,
Hester and Silvermaid I too am looking forward to the holidays, these last 2 weeks seem like a big uphill struggle.
Lovely and sunny here again this morning, washing out on the line and packed lunches ready for kids, OH and me.
Work today then I am going to watch DD1 in a music concert this evening, she is playing the violin in a string group and then she is singing a solo, she has a lovely voice, she certainly doesn't take after me!
Tea tonight is something made with the left over chicken from yesterday.
Hugs to those that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all
Lovely day here on the planet Thanet. I slept badly again last night, never get much sleep in the summer, the combination of light and seagulls tends to either wake me up or stop me from sleeping. Oh well an excuse to get more jobs done.
I've got training today so I shall try and stay awake after lunch. Then I'll have a quick dust and hoover when I get home. Tea tonight is leftover chicken, salad and HM chips for DS and potatoe salad for me. Then I need to strip the carcass and bung it in the slowcooker overnight.
Have a good day all and big hugs to anyone who needs one.

Morning all, phew it was warm over the weekend wasn't it? Still we were clearing MILs house so no sunbathing here! Bought another car load home last night to add to the boxes currently strewn all around the house. Have reached a compromise with OH in that if I do the childrens rooms this week then he will sort out some sort of storage for the remainder. Have a second hand wardrobe for DS2s room being delivered sometime today. Then will just sort out our room. Hopefully I'll get that done today as I've got rooms full of boxes - grrrr!
Schools out in two weeks so I've got to sort out the storage before then. Fingers crossed for the good weather as I'm sure I'll have loads of washing to do! Hugs and high fives to those in need / celebrating.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning All,
Another busy weekend chez Julie but I read and catch up when I can. My visitors should have gone to London for a couple of days but thats been cancelled so some of my cleaning and sorting plans are on hold. Not to worry they go off travelling soon so I will be making the most of them whilst they are here:D
Gers well done on the weight loss, mine has completely gone out of the window with all the social events but I have decided as soon as we get back to normal I am going to tackle my weight once and for all. There have been lots of pics recently and they make me shudder:eek:
Tonight I am making hm lasagne with salad out of the garden and I have promised our youngest chocolate brownies and my DIL is desperate for a lemon drizzle cake so an afternoon of baking for me.
We have had so many strawberries this year I could supply the supermarkets but we are managing to plow through them:) but we had our first ripe raspberry yesterday. We only planted the little stick this year and didn't expect any fruit so pleased with that.
Cabbages, carrots, potatoes onions and peas are all looking good as well.
I have also bought over half my Christmas presents already:eek: got some beautiful throws in M"talan for half price and different bits from Primani. I am determined to be organised this year as we are off to Australia in June next year so lots to do and organise.
Sorry for mentioning the C word in July but I couldn't resist showing off:rotfl:

Morning all,
Beautiful day here, bright and breezy so wm is doing its thing, will get dd to strip her bed after, and get that washed and dried today.
I need to do an online food shop today, and dd and I can have a good clean and tidy through, will make some cakes later on as I have some frozen bananas to use up.
Dinner tonight will either be a quiche or an omlette with a few chips and salad, will see what dd would prefer I suspect it will be an omlette.
Listed another few things on Ebay last night, so hopefully a bit more in the house fund.
Have good days all, hugs where needed xx0 -
