Thanks for your reply...I'm flying from Gatwick North the week after next, so it will be there...I'm going with my daughters 19 and 17 so no worries about them being noisy in the lounge!...hopefully

1956....seems so long ago - oh wait, it was
Are you travelling down the night before you fly and staying in a hotel without breakfast? If so and you want to take advantage of the lounge and breakfast then you might think it worth a go - especially if you have most of the 3 hours in there - get checked in early to avoid queues and then go relax in the lounge. The No.1 lounge at Gatwick North has only been open a couple of month (May I think). If you or a member of your family are on Facebook go to the No. 1 Traveller page and take a peek at the pictures of the new lounge.
Hoof's link will get you that lounge for £17 each but I do agree with your thinking and believe it's only worth it if you intend to make the most of it for up 3 hours. It's perfect for us as we are not into tramping around the duty free shops.
Out of interest who are you flying with? If it's Delta I'd really appreciate some feedback on their aircraft when you return please. I know they operate the Boeing 767-300 and I'm hoping we might get lucky and get one of the few that has the AVOD - not many of their 767-300 aircraft have been updated yet so it's pot luck on the day! I've been trying to get an update from somebody who might have recently flown with them.
All the best to you.0 -

Hi...thanks
No I'm travelling during the day so breakfast is not on the menu....although the champagne is tempting

AVOD = audio, video on demand
I am not 100% sure, but I think the champagne might not be free! If my memory serves me right it wasn't at Manchester so that might also apply at Gatters.
Cheers (or perhaps not in this case)

WaxiesDargle wrote: »can anyone who has had experience of these lounges tell me, is it just the 'getting away from the madding crowd' that you book it for?
If you have a family, it seems like a lot of money to pay out just for up to 3 hours sitting in the quiet...as opposed to three hours in a costa coffee (or bar)
I'm thinking of using it though....just to see what it's like
If you find yourself going from Heathrow and just want peace & quiet have a look at the signs. There are quiet lounges in T1, 3 and 4 I think. Subdued lighting & recliners, no announcements, free of charge. No-one I know who goes through Heathrow was aware of them but I know someone who works there & pops in for a nap regularly. Don't know if other airports have them.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Can Glenn or HoofeHearted PM me re Manchester Airportlink please.0
