can anyone who has had experience of these lounges tell me, is it just the 'getting away from the madding crowd' that you book it for?
If you have a family, it seems like a lot of money to pay out just for up to 3 hours sitting in the quiet...as opposed to three hours in a costa coffee (or bar)
I'm thinking of using it though....just to see what it's like0 -

You do get free drinks (inc alcoholic) and snacks. Some do hot food (Escape T1 at Manchester, but not T2). Free Wifi, newspapers. Plus it is a lot quieter and not overcrowded.
Have a look here for Gatwick North Lounges.0 -

I particularly like the option of getting away from the 'madding crowd' and hussle of the airport Waxies, but as we overnight before flying at somewhere like Premier Inn then it is also breakfast for us. I was able to get two £12 vouchers for the No.1 Lounge for our next trip and that definitely has to be worth it if you consider the price of food and drink at the airport. We went into the T2 Escape Lounge at Man airport in January and it was so peaceful and we found it a good start to our flight - it was actually a lot quieter in there than we expected as all appear to be there for the quiet and everybody talked in hushed tonesWe had cereal and toast, coffee, tea etc for breakfast but there was also other items available like Danish, biscuits, crisps and so on. I understand there is freshly prepared hot food to order at the No.1 Lounge along the lines of eggs Benedict and bacon roll etc.
I do agree that it would be expensive for perhaps a family, which may explain why there were no children in the Escape Lounge when we were in there - that to us was a bonus (absolutely no disrespect meant to parents by the way). I believe the Escape Lounge do not allow children in under the age of 6. Coupled in with price it can't be easy for parents to keep their bairns quiet when they will be so excited about going on holiday - at least they can be more active in the departures hall and hopefully tire themselves out and sleep on the aircraft
Which lounge is it that you might try Waxies?0
