Haven Mis-leading platinum standards!

Did you speak to them about the DVD player not working and the missing towels while you were still on the site?
Tbh, I don't really think you have much of a case. It's made clear in the brochure that a travel cot won't fit in the bedroom. There is no way Haven would ever give you much of a refund for that, or because you found the beds weren't comfy, which is purely subjective. I think you'd only stand a chance in the small claims court if your caravan had been very dirty or had not had lots of the facilities it should have had, which doesn't seem to have been the case.
As others have said, it wasn't a standard, they are only 10 feet wide and don't have things like DvD players or microwaves.0 -
Please could you provide a link on their website where it says clearly that travel cots have to be in the main area, as I seem to have missed it.
I know it is in the terms and conditions but I mean is it available to read at any point when booking?
Also, as I've stated before in a few other of my posts that I spoke with reception over the phone about the tv/DVD when we first arrived and they were rude and didn't want to know. Hence the reason we didn't bother speaking to them again.
I'm not denying that haven probably have many satisfied customers like yourself. But please bear in mind that this is the first time I've booked with haven and I didn't see anywhere about the travel cots during the booking process. Also, like you say you haven't been to haven with an infant so you are lot less restricted. You can go out and have fun if their are issues.0 -

Your another member who has now confirmed that I didn't stay in a platinum caravan. Thank you. I can honestly say we will never stay with haven again.
There seems to be quite a few pro-haven members dismissing my complaint. I wonder if they would be so dismissive if they were in our shoes.0 -

Cots are suitable for infants up to 12 months old. You will need to bring your own cot linen. In most holiday homes cots will only fit in the living room area
It's always been there. It's in the brochures and you, yourself, admit that it's in the terms and conditions (which you would have read otherwise you wouldn't know it's in there. If you didn't read any of this until you had been and were annoyed it is wholly your own fault)If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
I have just had a similar experience stayed at a Haven "prestige" caravan for 1 week. We have stayed at the same caravan park for the last 2 years in Prestige Caravans and been happy with the Caravan's that we received.
However this year I was shocked when I saw it I though that they had made a mistake and that it was the next grade down from Prestige.
So we went and complained and they said it was Prestige but they gave us another caravan, again it was nowhere near as nice as the ones we had previously had but it was slightly better than the first and the only other one available (allegedly!!) so we had to make do with that.
Where as the prestige ones had a little bit of the "wow! factor" this one was very dull compared, it had no stylish touches was just very basic and functional. The main differences where before we had a freestanding dining table and chairs both times this time we had a built in seating area with 2 small crappy stools. No net curtains, that may sound trivial but as we spend quite a lot of time in the caravan it does make a huge difference to privacy with all the windows it was really starey. Both previous times we have had two toilets last year we even had a second shower this year we just had the one bathroom toilet. We had a dressing room even one of the years, both times we had plenty of storage, including like a sideboard unit in the living area. This time there was hardly any storage in the whole Caravan, and no coffee table or anything like that. Both times before the heating in the bedrooms was proper adjustable radiators, this time it was just warm air vents in the bottom of the bedrooms tiny wardrobes that you could only turn on or off.
The worst part was I had to change the dates of my holidays so originally paid £368 for it but had to change it to 2 weeks later at the time when I changed it I had to pay £540 total  had no choice but to pay it. Then happened to look a week after I changed it and the prices had come back down to £380 so I was already peeved as I had theoretically paid more than the price of a Platinum Caravan anyway.
I think Haven are up to something dodgy and imagine that if we had booked a platinum caravan it would have been a similar spec to what Prestige was previously.
Your caravan defo looks very similar to the spec on the Prestige caravans we previously had, which is what I was expecting to get this year.
It makes me so MAD!! I'm also annoyed with myself for not taking photos of the caravan!! I agree that their photos are really misleading too making everything look so much nicer and bigger.
I think I will write in and complain but don't really expect to get any joy.:("Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

Do you mind me asking how you got the holidays so cheap for a week? Can't even get a standard caravan for that!!! Is it one of the smaller parks you go to?If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

When I complained they said that the pictures are for representation only, so they can basically advertise what they like and get away with it.
unhappy-camper I really feel for you, although your caravan looks nice it really doesn't look like what you would expect as a platinum top of the range. I had wanted to stay in Platinum really but couldn't justify spending the extra, I would expect that they should defo have masses of the wow factor for the cost of them scandalous isn't it! The way they market them is wrong I too would have been massively disappointed if I had paid the extra for the Platinum and got your caravan."Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

hi shegirl
It's at Greenacres park North Wales, the original week was middle June and I booked it in January when there was 50% off. I have found them to be the cheapest around the second week of January.
Are you looking at school holidays because I know the prices for then are massively hiked!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

I remember last year the prices for july were mad even for standard!Never paid less than 929 for a week at devon cliffs, usually more than that (929 was superior:eek:) even half price though the lower accomodation was 500+ although they have other reductions at the mo,still going to cost around a little under a grand for august thoughIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
At Littlesea Platinums are over £1400 we charged £799 are have been fully booked for months, half the summer holidays were booked around July last year. Even adding on passes you save hundreds by booking with an owner and you know exactly what the caravan looks like when you book, whether a travel cot will fit in a bedroom or lounge, where on park the caravan is. We supply a lot of children's things free that Haven make you pay for, eg travel cot, 2 bed guards, clip on chair for the table, door guard etc etc.
We also have a box of toys, books, video's,dvd's, games, PS2 and games, books and puzzles for adults as well so they are not left out.:)
Some owners will also supply you with a pushchair. We have patio furniture and an outside light (if you get any good weather lol)0
