Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday, 10th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning Folks,
Grey and gloomy here at the moment.
DH and I are off galivanting after church, so it is a no cooking day for us. Visiting friends for a buffet lunch and we are taking a contribution.
I am hoping we will be able to visit an outlet centre - this should happen if we go straight from church and don't come back home to do a few jobs.

Not a very OS day then - but hopefully very enjoyable.
Happy Sunday with hugs for all those who need or want them x
Cheers m''dears, Silver x

    Morning my lovelies :D

Up with the larks with DD. Just boiled a ham to put in SC for tea.
Just a general pottering day today, got a load of washing to get through and an even bigger ironing mountain
Not much to report really, living life on the edge here ;)

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a lovely Sunday OS or not.

A very quiet good morning from me - the sun is pouring in the windows and I have been forced to wash the secondary glazing as the sunshine showed up the dirt. :D Not had breakfast yet but I smell of vinegar already. Thought I'd do it before my shower.

Yesterday I had a thoroughly good and relaxing time. Almost finished the piece of knitting which has been lying on the sofa for over 6 months and may even start another piece later.

I've got to collect a M&S order from Silverlink today, will try to get in early as the car park was being relaid and/or repainted the last time I was there and it was rather chaotic.

OS is not buying anything unless essential - apart from the M&S order that it cos that is essential.:rotfl:

Then perhaps we'll head off to Gibside for a walk up and down the Long Walk and then a sit in the sun if it hasn't turned to rain that is. Last night we had a very short but very powerful hail storm  just came from nowhere, bounced off the windows like nails and then disappeared again. Summer evenings!

I hope that people are OK. Again, good vibes to those who need them and to those who would like them.

Morning folks. Torrential rain yesterday in Edinburgh - DH read this morning that the average rainfall for July fell in 3 hours. However, the sun is out this morning and I'm just off to go round the park with the dogs.
Lazy day planned with lots of reading and park strolls.
Tea tonight is chicken in gravy from freezer, new pots, brocolli, green beans, sprouts and carrots.
DD and her OH are home from holiday today so I'll get some milk and bread for them. Not sure what time they arrive back but DD starts a new nursing placement tomorrow so she will be back to a busy start. She loves it though.
(((hugs))) and warm thoughts to those who are under the weather, anxious or sad. I hope things brighten up for you all.

    Morning all,

Woken up early this morning by OH heading out on a bike ride, he is doing really well with his fitness regime and his beer belly (or bay window as he likes to call it) is beginning to disappear.:D

The wedding was lovely yesterday. Despite a terrible weather forecast the sun shone throughout and the church was packed with friends and family. DD1 and DD2 had never been to a wedding before and they were really impressed.

Today I am helping with the 8 year olds at junior church, they seem so young now that my children are growing up, then it will be my usual cook-a-thon in the kitchen getting ready for the week ahead.
    Tea tonight is roast chicken.

Hugs and positive vibes to all who need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Good Morning everyone ,well all the sausage rolls are done and packed ready to take to my DDs this afternoon, and at the moment the weather is looking o.k.
DGS Danny popped in yesterday just before I started to begin cooking and we sat and he told me all his news.He has an interview for BB on Tuesday he will hopefully go in as a clip researcher which is apparantly a better job than he has at the moment, one more step up the corporate t.v. step ladder.he is working on the Pointless show at present and he was very pleased as the show now it has moved to 5.15 on BBC1 the ratings have shot up and this week they had cornered the top viewing figures for that time of day for the whole of the U.K with 2.9 million.he was very excited as it goes down well when you are working on a succesful show, and he gets a credit on theat the end which is apparently good.I don't know much about t.v. production but he was very happy about how things were going. He is looking forward to being a programme researcher then hopefully after a year or so going after assistamt producers jobs.I am just pleased that he so loves his job and is very happy learning the business from the bottom up.
After we had had some tea and a chinwag he said fancy coming for a ride to see his other granny in London as he had to pick some stuff up .So I said yes straight away and off we went for the afternoonhad a nice time and more chat and tea and biscuits then got home about 6 so I was rather late starting my baking but I much prefer to have an afternoon with my eldest grandson as he leads such a busy life and afternoons are few and far between.I was sounding him out on what sort of thing he may like for his 21st in November and I think I will treat him to a day out racing at Brands Hatch as he is keen on motor racing and it will be a nice suprise for him.
Today I only have a bit of ironing to finish up and just potter around until I am off to the party around 4.00.I am quite looking forward to it as its lovely when we all get together and it normally only happens at Christmas so a mid year one will be nice.
Right I am off to make some breakfast I think it will be some museli and fruit with some natural yoghurt on top.Hope everyone has a good day whatever you may be doing
    Take care

Up early again to go to the gym, lovely day here at the mo. When I get back shall start prepping the hall as it didn't get done yesterday. Taking DS swimming later with his friend.

Tea tonight is roast chicken, stuffing and veg, probably strawberries again for pud. Need to bake some cakes for the tin and some wholemeal bread. And of course iron!

Have a good day all and big hugs to anyone who wants one.

    Good morning

OS jobs for this morning are to

    1. put the pile of washing back out on the line that I had to take in because of torrential rain all afternoon yesterday. Looking much clearer and calmer today!

    2. Feed my sour dough starter - I'm hoping I will be able to bake my first home made loaf with it by Friday or Saturday.

    2. Take kids over to see Granny & Granda.

    3. Make a roast chicken dinner for this evening.

Following my first week of proper budgeting and meal planning and sticking to my grocery list I have wasted no food this week. Only a piece of broccoli, 3 apples, an orange and some yoghurts left over which are all still in perfectly edible condition and can be used this coming week, if not devoured by the kids today.

Why I have never done this properly before I don't know. Laziness I guess. I am going to try and reduce the food budget just ever so slightly again this week to see how I go. I'm going to try £5.00 less when I go tomorrow. By shopping mainly at Lidl and a few things from Morrisons I really have shaved between £30 & £40 off my old Tesco shopping bill each week.

Have a good Sunday everyone :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Bright day here, but we have had a few showers, I have my bedding in the wm and will risk it and hang it out.

DD's best mate came to stay last night, they get on so well, they did not stop talking and giggling for a second, and she mucks in and helps wash up etc, anyhoo they are still both asleep, will go and wake them up in a while.

BBQ went well yesterday, got some sausages and burgers left for today, so might do another one :T

Started to price up bathrooms yesterday, think its going to be ebay, so much cheaper than anywhere else, so will have a good look later on.

Have woken with a sore throat, so I am hoping that goes away sharpish, I do not have time to be ill, and I won't be able to see my dad if I am, because he is so weak and is catching everything going :(

Hugs to all in need xx

MeanMarie and Mr Mean :D Happy Anniversary, have a great day xxx

    Morning All

MIA yesterday I was just too busy to grab any time to myself.
Did lots of washing yesterday and had it on the line 'till it rained cats and dogs :( so it all had to go on the airers to dry. Trying really hard not to use the TD.

Might go over to Milton Keynes Hobbycraft later to get a few bits and bobs that I need.

(DH has just put a coffee in front of me bless him :D)

I don't know how it happened but I have a huge bag of rhubarb from the school (DH is site agent) and have been asked to make lots of rhubarb crumbles to sell on Monday for school funds, and I have been told to leave enough to make us a few as well :D
I don't mind because it is a lovely village school.

Just caught up on yesterday's thread

Candygirl .......sorry to hear your news (((((((((Hugs))))))))

    Morning my lovelies

Grey start but sun is trying to poke through here. TBH I'm kinda hoping it stays like this cos if it's really sunny I'll be tempted to go out and sunbathe, when I really need to stay in and tidy/pack stuff/sort stuff etc!

That's all my plans are for the day. My brother is apparently around this weekend so may see him later if he can spare the time, but knowing him he'll be sleeping off last night for most of the day and will then head home to Bristol! I've been invivted to cinema tonight but don't really fancy the film (Transformers 3) so will probably give it a miss.

I was going to look for new furniture for new flat cos I need new wardrobes and chest of drawers, but my new flatmate has offered me her wardrobes cos in her room she has a big cupboard with rail so doesn't need them. They are just canvas ones but they'll do for now :)

OS wise - WM been on with one load which is drying on balcony now, WM back on for hot cycle with the dirty tea towels from the work's week away - they had been soaking in bleach for a day! Will re-attempt the bread in my BM later if I have enough flour. DW will go on at somepoint. Need to tidy and hoover.

I think I'm going to order my new laptop today :)

    Have a good day all
