Speeding cycling

Speed limits on public roads are covered in the Road Traffic Act, and that only deals with motorised vehicles.
There have been cases of cyclists getting on-the-spot "fines" for speeding in private areas - the Royal Parks have there own set of regulations.0 -
You might get done for 'furious cycling', but not speeding in itself. This is very close to one of my life ambitions!
Any bike speedo is an optional extra and not calibrated to the same legal degree of accuracy as with motor vehicles. It's only numbers.0 -
What is the fastest anyone has done on a 'push' bike then?
The fastest down hill so far on this thread is 45mph!
What is your fastest on flat and then down hill?
And should the same laws apply because if the speed limit is 20mph for cars around schools etc then why should a bike be allowed to go faster?Year 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

Bikes aren't immune from the laws of the road, the only difference is they actually need to be caught in person committing the offence. An ANPR camera or speed camera can't identify them so its near impossible to do anything about them. An officer can still give an on the spot fine if caught though for speeding, riding recklessly or even riding under the influence. The hard part is catching them though lol.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

My fastest solo ride on the flat, is around 32MPH for 12 miles (in a 60 limit), and around 50MPH down hill (an estimate because it was pre computers, and the rest of the lads were maniacs, they were pulling away from me). I have been in a road race on public roads, where every lap on a tailwind section (about 5 miles) was done at just over 40MPH on the flat - very exciting.0 -

You can however re calibrate them yourself, something which you do when you buy the computer, by entering the rolling distance of the circumference of the wheel. By riding on a measured stretch of road or track, you can get within a few yards of a correct answer, which is far more accurate than a car (around 5% to 10% speedo error).0 -
Used to use a bike speedo on my Westfield, because it was more accurate and easier to set up than the fitted odometer. It did go a bit tits up after about 60mph though.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Ive reached 52.7 mph on the bank from Burdon lane, Warden law(highest road in Sunderland) down to Rhyope, thats a national speed limit road though, so I was well under the limit for motorised vehicles. If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.0
