Look after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves.
My mum always used to say this, I never realised it was true until recently. Duh!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -

Before you buy anything, ask yourself -do I need this or do I just want it?

Don't EVER reply to an MBNA mailshot.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

If you do owe any money, do not consolidate, this is the one sure fire way of ending up owing more - only the very disciplined seem to make this workQuit smoking 18/08/070

Don't believe any of the 'We can write off up to 75% of your debt' companies. The reality is you'll be heavily charged for the priviledge and will just end up more stressed and take longer to pay it off than doing it yourself with careful budgeting.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Know what you pay for things, especially little things that you use on a day to day basis.
For example, my target price for a package of babywipes is £1 for packet of 80 wipes. (I have noticed that the Boots' own brand ones are now only 72 wipes per packet but I won't be concerned unless it goes down to 60 or less.) (I normally buy BOGOF too - pay around £1.98 for 2 packets.)
Ditto re Radox shower gels. Work out the per bottle price when it is on BOGOF.
Point is, if I don't watch the expenditure on these small items, I could end up spending more than is necessary.0
