Had a successful lunch, my frist Christmas dinner all made from scratch and it was blooming lovely if I do say so myself. The beef was great, the gravy was the best I had ever tasted, there is plenty left (even if DP did have 4 sandwiches with it last night aswell). Cooked a gammon in apple juice and with chopped fresh apples in, the only problem I had was carving it, it's so tender after being in the slow cooker the fat actually just dripped off and the meat falls apart when you touch it.
I made a cooked breakfast this morning with bagels with cheese on then scrambled egg on that and gammon on the top,, cumberland sausage, and tomatoes. I haven't eaten since as I'm still full :rotfl:
Dropped DP at pub with his Dad so he's out of my hair for a little while and not hogging the kids toys, went to get some tubs as I managed to crack 4 yesterday, don't ask!! Been playing games with the kids and getting some clearing up done, cleaned all the floors whilst youngest son was making [strike]a mess[/strike] crafts things with glitters and glue stuff he got, and oldest was reading his new sea monsters book. Stack of rubbish to clear, no bin collection until later this week, why doesn't Santa leave an elf to help with the tidying ?
Best wishes to all, especially anniestar, sorry to hear about your relative and hope you are ok.
Happy Birthday pigpenOne day I might be more organised...........

Just back from Somerfield. Managed to scoop up a few really good bargains. 2kg fresh chicken £1.05; mangetout 0.24; quiche 0.41; iceberg lettuce 0.21! DH and I have a wee bit of rivalry regarding who scoops the best bargains but it all seems to be down to being in the right place at the right time. I think the shops are getting wise to us OSrs and randomly do the big markdowns to keep us on our toes.
Still no sign of Cookie!

I've made my very first homemade soup today, in my new slow cooker, which i got for christmas.
It smells lovely, vegetable soup. going to freeze some, and leave some in the fridge to take to work with me.
not been any where the shops yetIf everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well today we are having a chiling day. kids have just played with toys all day.
xmas day went ok, none of us ate very much due to just getting over tummy bug's. kids loved all their pressies. hubby and i had some excellent ones also. we had dinner at hubby's parents and his nan was there. ( she don't like me , whatever i do is wrong, if i took drugs and was an irresposilbe mum then she would , u get my drift. last year i got told i was trying to chain my daugther to the sink ( age 2 ) just for buying her a play kitchen and how i shouldn't be so awful to her ??????) but we all played fab quiz games, and just as we were leaving mil started being sick , so she now has the bug . feel sorry for her after all she done for everyone.
today i am doing a buffet style dinner and laying the table up really nice for just the 4 of us.
i was gonna go into town for sale's. but there is nothing i need so i guess it not a bargin if i buying something i wasn't gonna buy anyway.
but i must say it is wondeful just having a day with hubby and kids and feeling under no pressure to do anything. apart from drinking loads of tea. yummy.0 -

anniestar (((( hugs )))) condolences on your loss. It must have been such a shock for you. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Snowy this may sound silly but after hearing about your neighbour's son, I felt I just had to pray for that family when I went to mass yesterday. I hope they are bearing up and have the support they need.
grannybroon I'm beginning to wonder if it is a tradition to call your hamster after some sort of sweet food. My DD is getting a hamster in the New Year and after talking to everyone who ever owned a hamster it seems they were all called cookie, fudge, candy or some other sweet. Is there something I should know about and pass on to DD so she knows what to call her hamster??
Well, I've just made stock from my turkey carcass and I will freeze that once it's cooled. Have also made a turkey curry (very Bridget Jones  ) from some of the leftover turkey. Then I found the TWO boxes of crackers I had put away for the Christmas table. Oh well, we will have some fun this week with our meals.
Hope everyone is having a laid back Boxing Day. x"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

I lost an Uncle last year on Boxing Day too. I don't know why it seems odd when people die at Christmas because I guess the odds are the same as on any other day of the year, but it does seems especially poignent at this time of year. My thoughts and prayers are with you anniestarLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

OH's car sold on ebay, the first winning bidder said his wife bid on it by mistake and the car was no good to them. Urgh ! I said next time please supervise your wife, I was going to leave them neg feedback - but decided I will let it slide.
But managed to offer it to the second highest bidder, and he's accepted the vehicle. Just waiting for them to arrange to collect it now.
Went to wyndsors shoe shop, managed to get 2 pairs of trainers each for the kids £3 each. The boots in there for me wasn't to my taste, so didn't bother.
We went to Mc Arthur Glen in Mansfield again, DS spent some of his Xmas money. I brought 2 bracelets for DD & 8 tops in Next clearance for me for work £10 for the lot.
OH back at work tomorrow, Ive got the day off, wont be back till Thurs now.
Going to chill out now for the evening, waiting for that "After Thomas" to start later - got the tissues at the ready.
