But "pending transactions" don't show on the itemised statement, which is kind of the point to this thread. It has been said that the transaction shows up on ones statement, as a separate transaction.
No. The OP said:
When checking her account online, the transaction was recorded, but there was also an unaccountable £1 transaction.
Ok, it's not 100% clear, but that £1 transaction will have been in the pending balance, not as an actual line on the statement.0 -
Okay, point taken, but it still doesn't explain why it doesn't say this will happen, on the Asda pumps around here. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Hi Guys,
ive seen this to, what happens is when you buy something online or when you pay at the pump, they obviously take a small authorization ammount.
You only notice this if you go online and it is deducted from your available balance but it doesnt show on your statement as it hasnt been taken out.
Hope you understand. From England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0 -
We ordered Euros from the Post Office Online last Monday (4th). The ful amount of £1800 was 'authorised' and ring-fenced. When the account was actually debited on Thursday 7th, the pre-authorisation is still in force ring-fencing the original amount as well as taking out the amount leaving our available balance in the negative. The currency is needed for a group music trip.
Despite calling the Post Office, the Bank and even Visa, I have been told that the pre-authorisation will 'drop off the system' if the amount hasn't been taken within 7 days. It's still there today - day 8 (but the first day isn't counted apparently).
This leaves us in a position where we are effectively overdrawn but more worryingly without access to our money.
I really hope that the situation will have resolved by tomorrow but think that this 'ring-fenced' amount should be released as soon as payment has been taken. This really does feel very unfair on unsuspecting customers. Can we as consumers actually force a system change?0 -
Just a quick update to say that the situation has resolved after the 7 day period.0

Just another reason why I avoid using a card whenever possible.0
