Already sold everything....where to get new stuff!

Hi all,

Looking for some advice, i've done a search but can't find this posted....but if i'm wrong please redirect me!

I'm looking for some advice for things to sell on Ebay / boot fairs.

I've already sold everything of my own that i can, dvd's books, clothes etc and have literally nothing left to sell.

I work two jobs and have limited time to get to places to find things to sell when shops etc are open!

What do people do when they are in this situation? Where would you get items from in order to sell at, say, a boot fair? I'd prefer to live with integrity and don't want to buy things from charity shops and then make money off them, but equally i'm in a situation where i absolutely need more money coming in!

Any advice would be appreciated either via this thread or by PM

Thanks in advance

Charity shops - buying from them gives them money !! There is an emergency in Africa with millions starving - this is a very good time to buy from Oxfam. Or an at home charity for that matter.
  • Very true, i suppose i got caught up in the thought of buying cheap from them but trying to sell at a higher price - so i don't want people to think i'm encouraging others not to use charity shops!! :D

However, i'm not sure whether the items could make me the money i need!

Don't forget once you start buying to sell you need to register as a business ;)

Well let us know how you get on with that explanation.

HMRC's tax crackdown on eBay traders
    http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-1726914/HMRCs-tax-crackdown-on-eBay-traders.html

Millions of pounds worth of goods are bought and sold on sites such as eBay and Amazon every day. HMRC insists it is not targeting those who sell only a few items and are unlikely to be liable for tax.
It will trawl the internet using 'web robot' software to catch out people and companies breaking its rules, failing to pay the right tax or trading illegally.

Well if charity shops in your area are anything like in mine its would be cheaper to buy off ebay! I don't know where they get their prices from. Try poundland or 99p shop as they tend to be in urban areas and people in the sticks might pay over the odds.

You couldn't get away with that for very long in good faith though.

I'll let you know where I find my stuff once I've sold all my surplus belongings, if I live long enough to get through all my weird collections.
  • Search for house clearances on gumtree, loot and any other free ad websites. You might want to try buying at carboots and selling on ebay as well, my brother's made a bit doing that.
Finding a supplier of whatever you want to sell is probably the biggest part of having a business that makes money, so chances are if someone has got a good supplier they will keep it to themselves!
