I've lost all faith in Royal Mail.

Hi there, I'm probably not the first to complain about Royal Mail but I feel that I should definitely say something about the appaling standards of service I've been receiving for a longtime. There are so many examples of what's wrong with the service I could list and yet it wasn't always like this, until a few years ago everything was absolutely fine. I will list a few quick examples of my gripes with the service as I don't want to write a long drawn out posting and bore you all! here are a few:
1 - Instead of placing letters neatly through my letterbox, every single one of them is rammed through which often means that they're either bent, ripped or damaged in some other way. How hard can it be to gently place a letter in the box!? I had one letter that was wrapped almost into a ball in the postmans desperation to get it through my letter box and the funny thing is that my letterbox is no different from any other, I'd say it's exactly the same.
2 - Whenever I order anything online, which is usually at the weekend, I'll notice that instead of it arriving in "2-3 working days" as is usually stated on the website, I usually don't receive it until the following Saturday (if I'm lucky) or I'll receive a note telling me to pick it up at the local depot when it could easily fit through my letterbox because it's simply DVDs and things from Amazon UK. Did I mention I always pay extra so that may parcel is supposed to arrive sooner?
3 - I can sometimes go a whole week, if not more without any mail and then it will all just come through in one big giant pile of crumpled, ripped and badly damaged letters, some of which may have been very important and by the time I get them, I've missed appointments or bills etc through no fault of my own. The worst example I've had is a letter that was postmarked 4th of Febuary and I didn't get it until the 19th! there was no holiday or strike either so what took so long?
4 - I've long given up on Parcelforce after numerous bad experiences and a long and stressful time of things trying to put things right. I've also had lots of things go missing in the post too and I only VERY recluctantly post anything now. There has also been occasions when parcels which have cleared been marked as Amazon UK/Play.Com have never even turned up and my suspicions are that the postman has kept them for himself because I don't think those companies would say they have posted something when they've not, do you?
5 - My postman uses my letterbox as a dumping ground for mountains of junk mail and I've literally had him at my door for two-three minutes sometimes forcing item after iteam through the door very noisily and then instead of going to my other neighbours? he just continues on his way and picks someone else at random further down the street and does the same thing. Please don't think I'm joking when I say I literally have a mountain of paper on my doormat after this, what a waste, all of it goes in the bin and I've even signed up for the Mail Preference Service repeatedly but that doesn't seem to work at all.
Anyway, sorry for this long-winded rant but it did make me feel better
Post has arrived this morning, again in one large pill and in the usual ad-hoc manner all of it completely damaged with some letters even looking as if they've been opened previously. I have a very large black footpring across the largest letter, almost as if they've been on the floor too. What has happened to Royal Mail? they used to be such a good company, my old postman was a lovely man and he even took the time to say good morning and though he kept to his timetable, he always placed the letters in your letterbox and he was definitely trustworthy.
Thanks for listening

its an accident,it happens
Im sure your 'old' postman was lovely
do you think nothing has changed since then?
I have posted for a long time that folk wont realise whats going on at RM until they see the results affecting them.0 -

It is quite hard to 'gently place' letters through some mail boxes. I've done leafleting quite a few times in the past, some boxes are awful, brush draught excluders that tear anything you put through to shreds, flaps with ridiculously powerful springs that take a lot of effort to hold open while posting stuff through (and cause serious injury if you accidentally let go with your fingers still in there), or boxes with TWO sprung flaps that are stupidly awkward to put things through.0 -
I once thought about complaining about them; but seeing as nobody else will deliver a letter 300 miles in under 24 hours, for 46p.... I decided i didn't really have a right to.0

never an issue with genuine complaints
eg if the OP items are being delayed0 -

I've always had excellent service from Royal Mail and Parcelforce.. have you actually complained to your local office about your postman/deliveries? Our postman is most polite and efficient .......#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Our usual postie is lovely. One of our dogs encourages the other dog to eat the mail as soon as it gets through the letterbox and he's torn the thing off the door before. She knows to either creep up and put it through really gently if he's asleep, or gives one of us a second to get to the door. Thumbs up to her!
We must live in a good area because we've never had a problem with the post that I know of.'til the end of the line0 -
Do you live down a long drive in the middle of nowhere, with a lovely large letterbox but the actual coutout inside is much smaller with a beartrap for springs inside it?0

when my prepaid card came thogh the post the envelope was rip open i didnt moan he is a nice postman0

I went to pick up a parcel from the delivery office one morning before work and I got there a bit early, I was shocked!! There was a woman loading up a van with parcels, she was literally throwing them from standing at the back of the big transit van to the very front of the van, including one which was plastered with Fragile. I lost all faith in them then!0
