Why do you think everyone should know about NS&I? Some people are not interested in money matters...so they come on here to get some simple advice!0 -
True but I'd expect then to do just a little work themselves. They are clearly sufficiently computer literate to have found this site and to post a message.
How do they think we find out? Osmosis?0 -
Having looked at their website, it appears they provide savings accounts and investments opportunties.
Here's perhaps a better way of wording the original question - could people provide examples of how taking out savings accounts and investments has saved them (or made) more money than going elsewhere?0 -
Is this some sort of school project?0

I was on verge of putting money into Santanders Flexible ISA which pays 3.3% AER. I'm now considering putting money into the NS&I IlSC. On the NS&I website it states the latter account pays 'Index-linking + 0.5% AER' interest and therefore it is unclear how Santander's 3.3% AER compares to this. Any advice much appreciated, many thanks.0

You have to guess at future inflation rates to guess which is best. Or you may take the view that the whole point of saving is to protect the purchasing power of your money and the best - darn near the only - way to do that is with an ILSC. We've bought some anyway, without hesitation or deviation but with repetition.Free the dunston one next time too.0

This month the nsandi calculator seems wrong to me
http://www.nsandi.com/savings-index-linked-savings-certificates?tabid=h
for example my £15k 3yr ilsc taken out on 25th may 2010 only gained £13, previous months its been an average of £40-£60 - anyone else noticed?0
