Just a warning, was in Sains the other day and Basics pasta sauce is suddenly 38p a jar, a rather big jump from 18p:( I noticed just in time.

hello Diflower, have you tried this sauce, and is it worth recommending?

Basics toilet roll - the jumbo ones have gone up to £2 now. Which imo makes them not worth it when I can get Nicky or even Andrex for cheaper!

thanks Ikkle67, will add this "not worth buying" to the front page of this thread

I have brought mainly the basics range in my Grocery shopping this week from Sainburys thinking i was going to save money on what my weekly grocery shopping usually comes to. It has come to about £12 more than i usually spend lol. Defeats the purpose of buying the basics range i guess allthough i have got more for the money.

poor you beko, any recomendations from the basic sainsburys range?

I felt exactly the same! Feeling like I had no money (ok I didn't but I don't need to advertise the fact!) as I filled my trolley with basics. What made it worse was a friend of mine that worked on the tills (at another store) told me she always scrutinised the people that went through her till & basically made huge assumptions about them..dinner for one = alone & sad etc. :(

To be honest who really cares what brand of biscuits you buy? Do you really take notice of whether other shoppers are buying the 'best'?

If it really does bother you why not shop online? It costs a little for the
delivery but you can get as many 'cheap' varieties as you like without the
    stigma attached ;)

hello theposhbint, any recomendations from the sainsburys basic range?

No offence but your friend sounds like a really horrible person. I used to work in a store, you can end up with too much time on your hands and too much space to think but it takes a certain type of person to decide to use that time to place judgement on others.

I'd say if someone was that horrible their assumptions really don't matter a whole lot.

If its any help, if I do see anyone buying value products (and tbh I can't remember the last time because I just don't look!) I assume the products must be worth it and think to try myself. I tend to assume they're the experts and are being savvy! I then look twice at things on the shelf as its almost as if someone else has tried, tested and placed value on the products (even though it could be a first time shop for them!:rotfl:)

hi jenniewb, any recomendations from the sainsburys basic range?

Generally I feel quite proud of myself for filling my basket with bargains. I might even feel a tad smug when I see someone else paying triple for an identical product in different packaging. ;)

(What I'm trying to say is stop feeling so self-conscious because people will always judge, you'll never please them all and it doesn't matter anyway.)

    hi lizling, any recomendations ??
