Just looked at my bank statement that had come through the post. Saw that a company called Diage.com has taken £19.80 out of my account. Being a bit puzzled by why it was on my account I tapped in diage.com on the internet. Turns out to be some sort of e mail company.
I am 100% sure that I did not join so I googled the company up. Turns out that this has happened to people from all over the world. Some people getting debited a lot more. A lot of the suspicion points in the direction of a company called DVD Pacific. I have never ordered from them before. I never hold any important personal information on my computer, I have a hardware firewall and run an antivirus 24-7.
A bit puzzled really as how they got my details.
Anyone else been hit?

Aha ! Interesting post re: DVD Pacific (http://www.dvdpacific.com)
I have used them before to get a ridiculously cheap Region 1 (USA) DVD in the past.
Had an email off them last week saying they had been "hacked" and are advising people to urgently change their passwords/log-in name.
Will be back in a moment to see if I still have that e-mail....
Weird how you haven't used DVDpacific though ???.0 -
Luckily I haven't been wrongly charged, anyway here's the email:
"Dear xxx,
Our web site has recently been subjected to various hacking attempts.
We upgraded our security measures in lieu of this to ensure the
personal information we hold for you is fully protected. Part of
these security enhancements have provided us information that led us to
believe that some data had been compromised by way of a worm on the
server. No anti virus or spyware was able to detect this but we now
have information that contact had been made with an IP address
outside our network. We attempted to capture this information without it
leaving the server so as to determine exactly what was being
transmitted. Unfortunately this worm had some type of self detection
available
and as soon as it realized we had discovered it, it self destructed
leaving no trace evidence.
Yesterday the IP addresses we suspected behind this launched a
malicious code attack on our SQL server and this allowed us to track their
IP addresses to their source and we have identified ISP’s in Russia
and the Ukraine. We have contacted the FBI, Secret Service and filed
a full report at https://www.us-cert.gov. Further a report has been filed
with FSB.ru.
We have blocked any possibility of this type of attack being
successful but as a
precaution we have auto updated all member account access passwords
and now sending you your new temporary password as indicated
below.
Your Login - xxxxxxxxxxx
New Password – xxxxxxx
We would also request that you pay particular attention to your
credit card statement to ensure that your not subject to any fraudulent
transactions and if so notify your credit card issuer immediately. We
will be providing a list of all cards we have on file to each of the
credit
card issuers so as they can also monitor any suspicious activity.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely as we have been
since it arose and you can be assured our efforts to provide you with
the
safest shopping environment online will always be of the highest
priority.
If you have any questions in relation to this issue please direct
them to webmaster@dvdpacific.com

Thanks for the reply Rochdale_Guy. I've never even been to the dvd pacific website let alone bought anything from them. I thought it may have had somthing to do with splash dvd, but no one else has noted a connection so must just be me being paranoid.
Makes you wonder who has your info though.0 -
I had a fraud (1st ever in over 10 years of holding credit cards and using them for many years on the Internet). I got a new Lloyds TSB Platinum card 8 months ago, only ever used it to buy from asos.com (a girly store!) and 2 months ago I had 2 transactions which totalled £48.50 from the same company. I phoned Lloyds TSB to query these and they said it was a 'gambling' company in the USA. Where they got my card details from, who knows? Thankfully Lloyds TSB cancelled that card, issued me with another and refunded the charges that had been made illegally on my card.
It's made me paranoid now

I have been subject to credit card fraud twice in the last 10 - 15 years or so.
Both of them were as a result of a transaction made with two different and unconnected companies. Some months after the transactions went through they were charged to the account again.
Both incidents occurred at around about the time when the businesses were going out of business so I would imagine that either it was the busi[tt][/tt]nesses having a last ditch attempt at pulling some money in hoping that it would not be noticed or it was a genuine mistake in the 'flurry' of bankruptcy ::)
I am pleased to say that in both cases (two separate credit card companies) the credit card companies investigated and subsequently made a full refund to my account.0 -
Our Tesco Platinum card was compromised to the tune of hundreds of pounds a few months ago.
Someone in America had spent a fortune (on our card) online, buying designer shoes!
I am really security conscious and shred everything that has writing on it so I was shocked to find out how easy it was for someone to access your account with no solid info at all.
We were told then, that it's very common for card accounts to have the odd very small questionable transaction, but as a lot of people don't check properly, the transactions go through unqueried. It's only transactions for larger amounts that some folk notice more.
Hope you get your account sorted out easily Beninio.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Whilst I shouldn't think this way - if my card accounts were fraudulently used, I'd be thinking.......
Barclaycard.....your profits are going down
Sainsbury's Bank - Justin King (Chief Executive).....your profits are going down too.
(In the latters case, he's doing a good job himself on bringing the profits down ;D)
Whilst you should take precautions, and I do, it's the billion pound profit making banks that pay for it. Shame that.0 -
Just been sent the claims form. It didn't come with a paid return envelope. Do you think I can claim that back too ;D . Only joking.0
-
No wonder I wasn't fraudulently charged as the Credit Card I had registered with DVD Pacific expired in APRIL 2004
My genuine sympathies to those of you who have been scammed though :-/.0 -
£286.80 attempted by wbsales.com (and a few 1p transactions) but luckilly my CC fraud dept picked up on it........ found the info at dvdreviewer. Don't recall getting any email from them (dvd pacific)........ had ordered a DVD from them that wasn't available here.
