They are installing a water meter against my wishes

How can I stop them?

I'm sick of this, first unlimited internet goes, and now unlimited water.

I presume they intend to do something in the street as there is no way anyone will let them in. What can I do? I will happily park my Nissan anywhere I need to stop them getting into my man-hole.

I'm absolutely furious about this.

Why are you so against a meter?

Unless you are bottling it or watering the garden or topping up the pool.

Best thing we ever did moving to house with a meter. Even better when the kids go:j

Good. It's time you stopped freeloading with your unlimited water.

    Precious resource.

Had a water meter for years. It does save you money.

Just wait until they start charging for air:p

Interestingly the posh guys always used to live up river in the olden days. Maybe there will be cheaper tariffs for used water for us plebs soon;)

In the early eighties I was billeted in central london, in proper hotels, for several weeks ona course.

It was before bottled water took hold and I can say that you could tell that water had been used (7 X apparently by then) it was disgusting.

 You talk as though charging for water is the thin end of the wedge, but they've been charging for water for as long as any of us can remember. You are free to collect the water that falls out of the sky without anyone charging you, but if you want clean water supplied to your taps, then unsurprisingly the people who treat it and store it and pump it to you want to be paid for their work.

ruggedtoast, they have been putting up the bills for unmetered properties for ages. Almost everyone finds their bills go down when they get a meter. Don't worry about it.

All water has been used millions of times. It's more or less the same water going round and round the water cycle since the formation of the planet. Get over it.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

How many countries around the world can you drink water directly from the tap?
