    Hi emaanddave,

Glad you're feeling happier about it now. To be honest, much will depend on what both the teachers are like as people and as teachers, I'm sure your kids have enjoyed being in some (full time) teachers' classes more than others anyway. If you get 2 committed teachers doing job share there should be absolutely no problem, as they should be organised and have a communication book to pass on info, write reports and do parents evenings together etc, and lots of children enjoy having 2 fresh perspectives each week (plus the teachers will tend to teach their stronger foundation subjects that they are more passionate about).

I'm hoping to go back part time as a job share teacher after I have my baby next year, and my only concern is that the job share they employ for me is as committed as I am- if they are then I am sure my class will make just as much progress as they do now whiole I'm full time.

I know for sure that if they don't let me come back part time and I have to leave my baby at home full time I will almost certainly not be as happy and positive a teacher feeling guilty about leaving my little baby 5 long days a week. I just thought it might be useful for you to see the perspective of a potential job share teacher!
Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams :)

I'm a job share teacher. I work Mon-Wed, my other half has our class Thurs- Fri and she also covers another class on a Wed morning. We work well together, and are always texting each other, leaving each other notes etc. We write reports together, both see parents at parents' evening, share the planning and marking, and putting up displays. Our class has always worked well ( in fact we had the best progress in the school last year!) and as people have said the children get two more rested teachers!

We actually have 6 part time teachers in our school, two others do morning/afternoons each, and two others do the PPA cover. It's almost impossible now for a child not to have another teacher for some part of the week as all teachers are entitled to 10% ( supposedly!) non contact time, and in our school senior management and the Special Needs co-ordinator get more time as well.

Having said that, my colleagues keep asking if I can work full time, as the other one's a bit of a moaning minny, but the children don't know that!

    So any questions please ask...
