Greedy landlord - so upset!
Comments

It does seem odd that you accuse your landlord of being greedy by asking to increase the rent yet you are proposing to withhold payment (in full breach of your contract terms).Thinking critically since 1996....0

Jumper, I assume English is not your first language. No one has been vitriolic towards you, I think we're just bemused by your reaction to your landlord/letting agent. All you have to do is say no to the rent rise and point out that the contract does not allow them to change it.
You seem to want to go beyond that to withholding rent, when there is no need. If you intend to pay your rent, then just pay it, on time. If your deposit is held in a scheme, as it should legally be, then you will have a chance to dispute any costs the landlord might want to take from it.
There is no reason for you to withhold rent and every reason for the landlord to be unhappy should you choose to do so because he cannot know whether you will pay what you owe.0 -

Asking for more money is OK?!
Go and protect your landlords anyway, what a scum, I'm just losing my nerves now reading so much crap.
I want to protect myself against getting screwed while he doesn't pay me the rent if I pay him. You guys only convince me to do the other way around, so congratulations!! :T:T:T
Why people don't have some sense in their brains, just once????0 -

...then stop acting like one!
You've lost all sympathy from me now and I think pretty much everyone else too!If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0 -

With the way people treat me here I feel like not paying rent at all, the entire forum is full of landlords, no wonder why these guys are idiots, no brainers. (not you, but the others just acting like idiots)0 -

Plenty of the people who have been advising you are not landlords. I am not a landlord.
I don't understand why you say you don't want to pay rent at all. You're not paying it to us so why get annoyed with us and then take it out on your landlord?0 -

I do it as a respect to the place I've been to, but if people don't show respect why would I show respect.
No, the rent doesn't go into your pockets but you guys are justifying someone who's trying to ask for more rent after 2 years of paying the same amount - I call it greedy, you call me greedy, so ********* - just makes me upset!
Alll I was asking is for advice how to not get screwed, I had no intentions to screw anyone but if people show me the finger I can do the same, and very easy.
I hate it when people don't know how to respect.0 -
Oh, grow up OP.
You should have mentioned you didn't want any advice that didn't agree with what you were proposing in your initial post and then none of us would have bothered wasting our time responding to your pointless thread.
I am glad you are not my tenant.Thinking critically since 1996....0
