    cheers mate,

You can't have a contactless card on the cashcard account, and even if you have a full current account, there is no guarantee you will get a contactless card, you have to be eligible for one. Also cashcard accounts cannot be upgraded. You will need to apply fresh for a new current account, and will be subject to a full credit check.
Debt free and staying that way!

.... If you have bad credit that card will not be a cheque guarantee though...
..The only difference is tat my card is not a cheque guarantee.

Nobody gets a cheque guarantee card anymore. The cheque guarantee scheme closed down on 30th June. Even on existing cards the cheque guarantee function is no longer valid.

    Sorry for ignorance.

A contactless card is one where thieves who get close to you with a contactless card reader can take money up to the contactless payment limit from your card without needing to pick your pocket. The distance at which they can do this depends on the equipment they are using, it'll be quite short - about 5cm - if it's a normal store reader. A PIN isn't required for all transactions so until one that triggers a PIN happens they would also be able to use the card up to the limit if they just steal the card.

It's intended for use when you place the card near a reader in a shop. If you've seen the Oyster cards used on the London Underground, those are a contactless technology.

No need to enter the pin for transactions of £15 or below:

  • Madness, it's insecure then.

How hard is it to push a card into a card machine and type in a pin anyway? Technology is making us so lazy.

I don't want one of those.
