Was with O2 for two years on LLU package with rolling monthly contract.
The packages this year are not good and why they want people off the old ones.
Access has never been any good either.

But only if you have had an o2 mobile for over 2 years !!!

"If you've had an O2 mobile for more than two years, we'll give you six months free home broadband on our The All Rounder or The Works packages to say thanks. Plus £5 off every monthly bill after that.
You won't have to pay our £25 connection fee – just sign up for a 12-month contract.
And if you've already got our home broadband, you can still get all these things. As long as you've had an O2 mobile for two years, and are eligible to re-sign your contract with us."

As hareng says, this is just a cynical ploy to tempt long-term subscribers off the much better legacy tariffs. No thanks.

I just had a chat online with O2 customer service as I just recently took my phone to them so had to take a new Broadband package. After some problem's with not receiving the N class router and them not applying the 3 months free I should have I asked them for a MAC. I have an O2 mobile but have had it less than 2 years. They immediately offered me 6 months free broadband. Fortunately I am in the 30 day happiness guarantee period.

Just check what package you are on Rob, if on a new one get out of there pronto.
The old LLU packages were pretty damned good.

You can't revert back to the legacy packages-once you leave there is no way back.

Can I please ask why people are so against O2 broadband? Or the new package at least?

I haven't researched properly but I am tempted by the 6 months free. I'm currently with Sky Unlimited and was going to call them and say "O2 will save me £X a year by switching - can you offer me any good deals" - not even sure if they can do anything but if they can't I'd be tempted to know what everyone seems to think is wrong with O2 anyway...

    Thanks!

I'm not sure people are against them.

They've used the classic business model, hook'em, reel'em in then change the packages.

The service etc is fine, provided you're LLU, plus £5/mth discount for having O2 mobile.

The niggle is, originally it was unlimited, now the lowest package is limited to 20Gb/mth.

BTW, I'm on O2, new style package, and no problems in 9mths.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Thanks for the info.

Not too sure about the whole LLU thing but the following is the package I was tempted with:

The All Rounder (unlimited downloads) £12.50 (6 months free then £5 off a month) so really only £45 for the whole year?

I'm just thinking there's got to be a catch somewhere! I'm currently paying £22.25 to Sky for Line rental and broadband - going to phone them and say I'm thinking of leaving because I could save £222 in the next 12 months. Just not sure they could even begin to negotiate on that!

I'm right in thinking I don't actually need a landline for this aren't I? I plan on keeping my BT landline anyway but for the benefit of Sky I was going to say I could cancel anyway...

Its been reported in the past that O2 are Throttling all the new packages.
