Totally agree with this, as its on a forum you will struggle to sell it on again through those means as the other buyer is likely to slate you. It then becomes a case of is it worth the hassle.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
You will if you push it far enough. The fact is the vast majority of the people are prepared to accept "Sorry, you signed where it said non refundable" and leave it where your legal rights say otherwise, especially when the car is sold the next day for the asking price.0

So now i have to find the £100 to save my reputaion through this guys lack of foresight?0 -
So you didn't read the link I posted where the consensus would be the same principle applies to the car dealer in that there is no such thing as a non refundable deposit
which part does it say that? as flyboy's post on there saysJust to clear up any confusion:
Can I get a deposit back if I decide to cancel the service/goods I ordered?
You may be able to get your deposit back if it was put down as part-payment. You should remember that the trader is entitled to compensation because you have broken the agreement for goods or carrying out a service so keeping part or all of the deposit might be reasonable if the trader has spent money based on your order.
If you change your mind and it seems reasonable for the trader to keep the deposit because they have already spent money based on your order then you do not have to pay any more than the amount of the deposit.
Deposits can be refunded if the trader has not kept their side of the agreement or if you and the trader agree beforehand that the deposit would be returned in particular circumstances
'may be able to' get the deposit back and also
"You should remember that the trader is entitled to compensation because you have broken the agreement for goods or carrying out a service so keeping part or all of the deposit might be reasonable if the trader has spent money based on your order." which the OP has done0 -

there is another way! pm the others who enquired about it. If one is interested, take the deposit off them and then give it to the original buyer.
When they come to collect the car they'll pay the remaining £500 in cash. Buyer one has his money back as though nothing ever happened, buyer two has spent £600 for the car and you've received £6000 -

I would say 'has spent money based on your order' as relating to the supply of the order not starting another 'project' as the OP has done. I suppose there's only one way to test it - OP tell the person you'll see them in court.0 -

I can't see why you would have to it does depend on how he plays it on the forum, sometimes its easier to pay them back to shut them up. If he is anew member no one will listen to him anyway lol.
At the end of the day the buyer has changed his mind not backed out because you mis described it or its faulty, (by the buyers own admission!!).Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
