THE SUN is possibly implicated....
Lets hope no hasty decisions are made anywhere
Even if Andy Gilchrist was not the subject of voicemail hacking by Sun employees, IMO the Sun is still heavily implicated by being part of News International.
Oh how I wish we had a crystal ball during those long nights outside the Wapping plant in the 80s. I was just an occasional visitor as I worked out of town. Some were there nearly every night.0 -

this is an interesting perspective.

essentially this isn't just about Murdoch - it's about the British Press as a whole. if we allow it to just be about one group of papers, demonising one man, it lets the rest of them fully off the hook.:happyhear0 -
That may be an old piece because "the state now guarantees every UK regulated savings account up to £50,000 per person per institution" hasn't been accurate since 31 December 2010 when the limit was raised to £85,000.0

A thought that crossed my mind earlier regarding media and politics was
"They're all in this together."
Maybe not strictly true, but it can be quite potent paraphrasing what other people say and throwing it back at them.0 -
Hi, having just read this thread it is rather daunting to see the vitreol & bile being directed at Martin Lewis. I read his blog stating that he would carry on writing for the NOTW & although slightly disappointed I thought other factors were swaying his opinion, eg. contactual or the fact that accusations were coming from many sources with no actual proof at that point. The evidence is clearly profound now in the light of Murdochs decision to close the paper. Many posters are targetting Lewis due to not withdrawing his services in a timely (to them) manner. This is unfair, Martin Lewis created this site, which acts to assist in financial advice. That is all. He is not our moral guru, just financial. In addition people should remember the most salient poiint, 4 million people were happy to read these articles weekly, if you want someone act as a focus for your anger etc I would suggest you look closer to home.:A:jDEBT FREE 27th MAY 2010:j

I don't post a lot. That does not mean I am not a regular visitor to the site and Forum, I do visit a lot!
I am taking Martins and others advice by voting with me feet. I have unsubscribed from the weekly e-mail and I will delete myself from the Forums.
I am doing this for Moral reasons.
Being an ex serviceman with a young daughter the news of the world allegations have pulled my strings harder than others.
Martins refusal to step down was a issue, his self justification and "NOTW Defence" i.e it was under a different regime and a long time ago! was the tipping point.
I decided to boycott the NOTW as soon as the story broke.
I decided to boycott MSE as soon as I read Martiins Blog,
I agree completely. I'm unfollowing him on Twitter, unsubscribing from the emails, and I won't visit this site again. I know MSE has plenty of visitors and I probably won't be missed, but it's important to make a stand for what you believe in.
It's a shame Martin Lewis doesn't feel the same way, and that the lure of money proved more important to him than taking a stand against unacceptable behaviour. His mealy-mouthed excuse that his campaigning is more important than a protest against corruption in News International shows just how hollow his ethics are.0 -
