Aerial Support claiming to be Sky

I've just had £18 taken out of my bank account by Aerial Support (L&C Support Ltd) because they called me to 'renew my policy' for protection/repair for my satellite system. I specifically asked them if they were 100% Sky as I have been ripped off in the past. Someone called Tyrone assured me that he was not a rogue company and that he was in fact 100% Sky. Unfortunately I believed this because I have a policy with Sky.

On receipt of their agreement, they are clearly not Sky and I was lied to in order for them to extract money from my bank account. On calling them, they would not refund my money until I had written to them!! Yet they can take my money without my written consent! I am absolutely fuming!!!

Is there anyone I can report this company to? Surely they should not be allowed to blatantly lie to people in order to take their money????

Seems you have made a silly mistake, if someone is planning on fleecing you of course they are going to lie.

You have a set amount of time to cancel these agreements send cancellation by recorded post, fast.
  • Today I had a call from Arial Support, asking to speak to the "Sky Subscriber" (=me), and they knew my name.
They informed me that they could offer me a new discount, so that I would only be paying £60 per year instead of £90.

I was immediately suspicious, and said I was currently only paying £4.95 per month to "Sky Protect". The guy (said his name was Adam) told me that Sky Protect was actually Domestic and General Insurance whom Sky themselves recommend, as they get a backhander. When I told Adam that we had had SKY + HD box since last year, he said no way would the £4.95 cover it, and that we should cancel the direct debit and sign up with him. He even patronised me and tried to explain how to go online and cancell the DD with my bank...Er I DO know these things, actually, and I told him. I thanked him for his advice and said I would call him next week when I checked it all out. He seemed happy to give me his number!

I checked out all the info re Sky Protect and Arial Support on google, then called Sky Protect who had ALL my information INCLUDING the date I got the HD box on record. They confirmed categorically that I am getting FULL protection on th HD box (as many as I might have!) for the £4.95 per month, and that price is guranteed through to May 2012.

So Adam from Arial support was trying to con me, telling me porkies just to get his commission.

My Advice is NEVER take peoples' word when they cold call you. Get a name and phone number, then do your research (including on this site!). Could save yo a shed load of expense and hassle!!:j

This has just happened to my elderly mother, so they are still getting away with it! I am willing to fight it all the way to get her money back - £75 is a lot to a pensioner. This guy has several companies registered in his name - probably ripping people off from all angles! So Mad!!

You don't need these policies, with Sky or any other provider.

Only company that works for us at sky is Sky Protect. Sub contractor under D&G, no other company runs our warranty service. Contact trading Standards, mis selling if giving that kind of info to you.

"Your" warranty service is expensive and unnecessary. If you do work for Sky then you'll know that it costs £65 for a callout and that even this is waived if the customer threatens to leave.

Sky protect isn't actually ran by sky just put through their name. & No it isn't usually waived tbh. On certain occasions it can be but not on a whole.
  • They are still doing it. I came back from holiday and had a phone call to say they wanted to renew my policy and had all my details. I agreed to pay and just updated by card details as it had been renewed in the last year. They took the sum of £90.00 from my account, when I had the contract through I checked my paperwork with my Sky items and found that I had never heard of them before. I am still trying to get my money back and have since had more phone calls to update my details and even told them that I cancelled the policy and am still waiting for my money back. If you manage to get through to them all you get in we will sort it out but nothing happens. :(

Hmm, didn't the fact that they call themselves aerial support make it rather unlikely that they were part of Sky (the well known satellite broadcaster)?
